Hallelujah.
I installed them tonight and I'm definitely happy with them. These are on another level compared to the OPT7 bulbs I tried previously (which were horrible - had no beam cut off, CRAZY glare, and light output wasn't great).
These Philips bulbs put out a lot more light than the stock halogens.
The beam pattern/cut off is almost the same as what you get with the stock halogens. Now, when I say cut off, I'm not talking about the razor sharp, light/no-light cut off like you see with projector headlamps. But the stock halogen headlamps DO have a cut off relatively speaking. These Philips LED's do a great job of matching the stock halogen cut off/beam pattern. The only difference, I'd say, from the driver's perspective, is that the LED beam pattern doesn't light up the road right in front of the car as much as the halogen's beam pattern did (we're talking the immediate 10 feet in front of the car). But the LED beam pattern does a great job of illuminating everything out past 10ft.
Glare... these Philips LED's are definitely brighter than stock halogens, so from the on-coming car's perspective, yeah, these are brighter. But as I said, the beam pattern is 95% the same as the stock halogen beam pattern so there's no crazy scatter of beams going all over the place like there was with the OPT7 LED bulbs. The Philips LED light output is very controlled in that respect. I'll say this, compared to stock halogens, there's a tiny bit more glare that is inevitable due to the brighter output. But compared to the rest of the LED bulbs on the market, no, there's no glare problem at all.
I installed these bulbs tonight at my company's parking garage. I drove home through the suburbs, onto the highway, then through the city. I did not get high-beamed by anyone on the road during the 25 minute drive.
The few times I used the high beams... they seemed just fine. Though, I didn't really get to compare "scientifically" with the stock halogen high beams (haven't used those in a while).
Philips claims 6200K color temp but I'd say these are more like 5400k color temp... which I actually prefer.
If you're looking for plug-and-play LED bulbs to replace the stock halogens... I can sincerely say that these are awesome. No glare issues compared to other LED's out there... great light output... and good beam pattern.
Also, in terms of install - very easy. You can even use the stock rubber boots with these bulbs. Insert bulb and secure the bracket. Slip rubber boot on. Screw the heat sink onto the end of the bulb (that protrudes through the rubber boot). Connect plug to the ballast (or whatever you call it). Connect ballast to factory plug. Done.
Pictures were taken with the same manual settings for all 3 pictures.
