Exactly, Joel. It might take a while longer to do the consolidation, but it will be well worth it to keep it all as "one read."
Yay! Thanks for your support in this Steve!

I would like to revise my previous statement... if you can't fit it all in one post, then the OP can have two or three as needed of course (like our build up threads...)

We'll leave the current threads in their original state, even after we copy them over here for refinement.

Once we gather up the relevant threads over here, I'm going to try to get the OP's to provide any current updates, additions, deletions, etc., that they may have.

Agreed. That's where the editing process comes into play upon the threads' arrival. I'm going to try to narrow it down to primarily the OP's initial posting, accompanied by his/her pertinent follow-up comments, and thin out the follow-up responses.

Once posted here, the thread will be closed. However, it will still provide adequate links back to the original thread for follow-up comments and/or questions.

Excellent! It's a lot of work, but we have confidence in you.

Re: Tech Article Format

Ok, the only thing I want to bring up on this thread is. I made this thread different then everyone else, I aready compiled the others post inside my orginal post giving credit to them. They also don't have any real "How to" in their threads, just abrief explanation and 1 pic of it finished. The links in this case are worthless IMHO. If you want I can go back and remove all the others pics and links if you want.

On second thought, I think I'm going to step away from this area, and let Steve manage the "Living Post", since I do have a few post in this area. I don't want to come across as having any type of favoritism, or influnce on what happens here

Good luck guys, if you need a hand at any time Steve, let me know.

Not sure what you mean Shadow...?

I thought we were going to have the original poster do the cutting and pasting and have them post the article.

Your post is really well done and all I was doing were suggestions to get as much good info as possible, some members might like the other locations.

This is still a baby, we need to give it some direction.

Maybe I don't understand what's going on, I haven't had time to sit down and spend some time ready about the living post section.

It's all good Joel, just tell me what you want me to do Buddy

I'm still kinda waiting to see what direction is going to suit (almost) everyone.

But, I think by virtue of the fact that the original thread has already attained either "sticky" status or usefulness through valuable information, there shouldn't be a whole lot that the original poster should have to re-do.

However, the OP should be given the opportunity to fine tune or update it if necessary.

Me neither, but from what I'm gathering so far, the "staging area" is for bringing over and depositing threads that will ultimately be candidates for the permanent Living Post section.

While in the staging area, the threads can be cleaned up, updated by the OP, have the unnecessary additonal comments / chit-chat removed, verify links, etc.

Once in their completed stage, then they'll be moved into the permanent "library" of the Living Post section.

Am I assuming this correctly???

Re: Tech Article Format

Steve, that sounds like the way to do it. That was my assumption as well. In the event where the OP is no longer available or inclined to "work" on the thread more, I think the mod should be able to clean it up as best he could. There should always be an opportunity to even fine tune archival threads.

The living post section and staging area are actually the same thing...

Here is the Tech Article Forum title as it is now:

FJ Cruiser Technical Articles The articles contained in this section have gone through the staging area below and have been approved to reach the "Technical Article" stage. To propose a new Technical Article, please do so in the "Living Posts/Staging Area" section.

Maybe this will help to clear some things up?

Re: Tech Article Format

Ok, So what your saying is, go back and take out all the talk back & forth that has nothing to do with the Tech post it's self? I'll use the SCUBA Thread as an example and try it. Joel, Tony, Steve, you guys tell me if this is what it should look like.
