Ok, So what your saying is, go back and take out all the talk back & forth that has nothing to do with the Tech post it's self? I'll use the SCUBA Thread as an example and try it. Joel, Tony, Steve, you guys tell me if this is what it should look like.
Yeah, Mike, I just dropped a suggestion into your SCUBA Driver thread.

Let me know what you think . . . .

Re: Tech Article Format

Another question . . . .

Are we going to be sticking with strictly "technical" articles??

The reason I ask, is because robinhood4x4's fantastic post on off-road driving techincally isn't "technical." http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...-wheeling.html

And, there are a number of other sticky (or potentially "stickyable") threads that are also a wealth of valuable information, but don't necessarily fall into the "technical" arena as we know it. So we should probably decide what technical is, as it applies to this forum.

Re: Tech Article Format

By the way, I just posted up http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...diff-lock.html as an example thread.

I think the readers will know to ignore the moderator's name who just happened to post a given thread and go right to the subject matter and its creator.

Plus, this will leave the original thread "unmolested," since this version of it will remain Closed following posting.

Also, the OP can request to have the content partially edited (within reason) once posted here.

Thoughts . . . . . ??

I spoke with ekool about having a Tech poster as I mentioned earlier, but his thinking was that it would be best to have the OP post it and have a mod close it so they get credit for their work. Personally, I think your way is fine Steve, they will get credit anyways.

Thanks

I think that one qualifies...

This is what the staging area is for, so we can decide things like this. My vote: put it in!

Re: Tech Article Format

I just noticed Steve... the Tranman Making sense thread is locked.

The locked threads should go into the Tech article forum, not here in the Staging area?

Yep, I was just temporarily posting that up here as an example to get everyone's thoughts on the layout/format. (Then I'll move it over to the Tech Article section.)

That would be my vote as well. Just wanted to be sure everyone else is agreeing on what qualifies.

Re: Tech Article Format

I think having their names in the thread title is good. This is much more efficient then waiting on the OP to show up. Looking really good! I also would like to see anything related to wheeling be a possible candidate for tech. Mike, Steve, Joel, thanks for putting so much time into this. This was long awaited but much needed.

X2.

What I might do, is send out PM's to the OP's to afford them the opportunity to do any editing / clean-up, and then let them be the re-poster of their own abbreviated thread into the Staging Area (and ultimately moved to the primary area).

That way the OP's name can also appear as the re-poster (versus a Mod). If there's no initial response from the OP, the Mods will do the posting just to get things going. (However, we can always let the OP re-do it the preferred way once he/she eventually shows up.)

As far as topics go, we could use this criteria:

- Technical/mechanical/maintenance. (i.e., lift kit installs, diff breather installs, engine performance enhancement, etc.)

- Interior/exterior/electronic modifications. (i.e., roof rack mods, map light installs, auxillary fuse box wiring, etc.)

- Product comparisons/buyer's guides. (i.e., bumper comparisons, skid plate comparisons, slider comparisons, etc.)

- Technical documentation. (i.e., full service manual, electrical schematics, alignment specs, etc.)

- Off-roading techniques. (i.e., 4x4 etiquette, winching techniques, 4x4 safety, etc.)

Thoughts??
