Question Subcategories???

Okay, I know we created a lot of work when we started this bad boy, but I have another suggestion: subcategories.

Perhaps just steal them from the forums these articles were originally placed in? Now that we are up to 5 pages of hardcore, meaty FJ info, it is getting a little harder for me to find stuff. I think others may feel the same way.

I said harder... not hard. 5 pages is not time consuming, but I can see this growing to be an amazing and vast FJ reference and I think it may be easier to implement further sortation at this point.

What do you think LCSteve? I am really sorry if I am creating more work for you, you are doing such an awesome job already! If you'd like I will volunteer to make a list of links under the categories and PM them to you or post them up so you can just click the links after creating the sub-forums and do your magic moderator move thing from the... thread tools list? Just guessing, I have some limited mod powers in my vendor forum.

Now where was that install thread?

Re: Subcategories???

Hey Joel,

We did run the sub-categories idea by the Admins some time ago, but apparently it would be very difficult to set up logistically. Not to mention, difficult to keep re-creating new ones every time an additional appropriate categroy might emerge that wouldn't otherwise be within the existing set of other sections we already have on the forum.

Instead, what I did about five months ago, was create the Contents and Recently-Added Articles thread as a means of sub-categorizing all (current) 5-6 pages of Tech Articles.

As you scroll down the table of conents, you will see all of the Tech articles already sub-categorized, and accessing them is just a click away.

It's a sticky that will (usually) always appear as the most recently posted thread in the Technical Article section's header, thus making different categories easy to find . . . along with the respective related articles.

Also, included at the very beginning of the Contents and Recently-Added Articles, are the five most recently submitted articles for those who want to periodically drop in and see what's new.

Sorry we can't fly with actual separate category sub-forums, but hopefully, this is the next best thing. But, thanks for your suggestion.
