Lucrum Winch Mount - M8000 control box suggestions

Hi all,
I've got my Lucrum winch mount installed w/M8000 winch and am looking for some suggestions on where to put the control box. I've got it temporarily installed to the left of the mount clamped to the light bar support post behind the plastic bumper. I can plug in the hand control from underneath, but it's not very convenient. I intend to relocate to some place a little better, but beyond putting the box in the engine compartment I am at a loss for ideas. With the light bar mount, the box doesn't fit very well next to the winch so the simplest option is out.

Any suggestions?

I've thought about getting one of the wireless controllers, but it says to unplug it from the control box when done using the winch. Is there a reason for this? The wireless controller would be the cleanest and simplest, but if I have to unplug it from the control box after each use what's the point. Is this to prevent stray radio signals from operating the winch? Could I get around this with a cut-off switch between the battery and the winch?

The winch mount is awesome by the way. Very sturdy and not too hard to install. It is definitely easier with two people though, at least for the part where you mount it to the FJ.

The light install isn't completed yet and I still have steel wire on my winch, but other than that it's getting close to being done. New wish list includes, synthetic winch line, wireless winch controller and second battery install.

Re: Lucrum Winch Mount - M8000 control box suggestions

I was thinking about coming up with some sort if hinge system for the passenger side bumper wing and mounting the control box on that side. The only thing that keeps me from doing that is the fact that it would be pretty unprotected since the bumper is just plastic in that area.

I'm probably going to go with a wireless remote and an isolation switch. The Ramsey wireless remote for the Warn winch just plugs into the control box so if it fails you can still use the wired control.

Re: Lucrum Winch Mount - M8000 control box suggestions

I have the same M8000 winch and the light bar.

The control box for my winch is installed on the left side of the winch area
and the plug for the control cable faces the winch.

So the side of the control box faces the front and it is in the same area with the winch.

I will post a picture in the next day or two.

I had the Lucrum Mount and Winch professionally installed and this is what they came up with.

Still trying to figure out where to mount the front license plate.

FJ onward through the fog!

Re: Lucrum Winch Mount - M8000 control box suggestions

I'm using the ramsey wireless controller. It's been hooked up for about 2 months now without any problems. I have an isolation switch that I eventually intend to install as well to insure against accidental winch activation from stray radio waves, but haven't really had the time to install it lately.

The few times I have used the winch and wireless controller it has worked flawlessly from about 30ft. to 40ft. away.

Re: Lucrum Winch Mount - M8000 control box suggestions

Anyone have pics...

Either my box doesnt fit or I just havent looked hard enough. I installed my winch without the electrical because I needed to find a good spot but didnt seem to fit well behind the bumper.

So a pic would be great or a more specific install spots would be extremly helpeful. I'm worried I have to put it under the hood.
