Exclamation Fire story brings New Military, Fire and Police Discount From Lucrum Industries

Sorry not to have done this sooner. We really appreciate all that you guys do and I would like to share a story that made me realize this recently.

As many of you know we were shut down the week of the fires here in San Diego. For a week we woke up having to clear ash from our cars like snow so we could see and could not go outside because of how poor the air was. We had it lucky but some of our friends and family did not. Upon the return of my Aunt and Uncle to their home last week they discovered their home was 1 of 10 left on their street out of about 40. But this was the amazing thing, in all of the driveways of the missing burnt homes were piles of the homes best belongings. Pictures, furniture, tools and other items were all saved. When my Uncle saw this he asked where the stuff came from and found out that when the firefighters could not save the houses they went inside the burning homes and took all that they could for the homeowners and protected it so that they would have something to come back to. It amazes me that they would put their lives on the line to give a parent memories of their child or to keep a dads tools so he could provide for the family. I did not see any of this on the News and felt it should be shared. Also as some of my family is still in the military and in Iraq I would just like to say thank you to all of you hero's out there for all you do!!!

Wow, that literally brought a tear to my eye, thanks for sharing.

All we seem to hear on the news is about how things should have been done different, politics getting in the way of action etc. while on the ground, it is good people doing the best with what they have available.

Thanks guys, I guess one thing I have learned is that there are idiots, occasionally we will get some belligerent person we will have to turn away and not sell to. But as soon as I think about that one person, there are hundreds of GREAT ones that amaze me!

Re: Fire story brings New Military, Fire and Police Discount From Lucrum Industries

As a Volunteer POC Fireman, I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words. I will share a like story with you guys. Dec 23 2004, my Dept responded to a report of a possible structure fire. I had only been an active member of the Dept for 4 months or so. This was my first BIG call, and I was scared out of my whits lol. (Anyone NOT scared of going into a burning building is fibbing or just plain nuts, but as one of my heros, John Wayne said "Courage is being scared to death but saddleing up anyway") At any rate, I was in the back of the first Engine on the scene. After 15-20 min or so of work, we had to exit the building to resupply our air packs. While I was refilling my air tank, I looked over by the garage as there was a lot of activity going on over there even though the fire was more or less contained to the basement with heavy smoke only on the first and second floors. What I saw still gives me goose bumps as I write this. 5 or 6 of our guys that had arrived on scene but that had not been assigned to a duty crew yet, had grabbed a Lieutenant and forced entry to the rear of the building. These guys were walking out of the homeowners attached garage with ARM FULLS of gifts that they had grabed out from underneith their tree. I remember seeing that and thinking "Ya, that's what its all about". I honestly don't know if I would have thought to do that on that night, but ever since and forever after it is in the back of my mind on all calls that I get to go on. Again, thank YOU for taking the time to say thank you. Everyone have a GREAT AND SAFE Holiday season !!!

Another amazing story, I got goose bumps from reading it too.

As some of you know I have been a paraplegic now for about 2 and a half years as the result of hitting a pot hole while on my motorcycle going a whole 25mph. I can say that as long as I will be alive, and I almost wasn't for about a month, that firefighters, police, paramedics, and our military mean so much more to me now, to have gone through needing them OR I would have died. They saved me (with my Lord) so that I can continue on to serve others and nothing in my life has brought me more joy! Thank You All!
