Re: JBA Exhaust Installation Help

Mine rubbed on the fram also what I had to do was lossen up the clamps and turn the short bent tube more towards the right rear tire and then put it back together. I now have about 1 1/2 inches of clearance. My only concern that I have witht he system is that the rear tip seems to extend too far out the back. I am sure that at some point I will crush it wheeling and have to have some type of high clearance tail piep put in or bend it to exit where the TRD behind the rear wheel. Overall I love it.

There are no gaskets in the stock exhaust set up so I don't know about that. But, yeah, when I took the JBA back apart, I saw that the larger diameter pipe had bent due to the clamps. It's just that the inner pipe still has play! Oh well. Looks like some pipe flaring and welding it is then. And I don't have any rattling it's just that right now there are numerous exhaust leaks.
There is a gasket between the y pipe and the muffler. When i installed mines i got a leak there because i didnt swap over the gasket... It is metal colored and blends into the pipes so i missed it the first time

I will try that too. I considered putting a block of wood between the exhaust and the frame. Don't know how hot it will get?

RomaBoy - Did you use 3 of the JEGS 2" clamps? I am installing my JBA exhaust later this week and think these clamps are the better way to go.
I didn't use the clamps from JEGS mine were straight across smooth with no step. But I do like those that JEGS sells with the step. Seems to me you would get even a better seal with them being preformed like that. You need 2 of the 2 1/2" clamps 555-30732. The back of muffler has a clamp/hanger combo that has to be used.

Re: JBA Exhaust Installation Help

I have a Magnaflow exhaust that I haven't installed yet.

Should I do it myself or have someone do it? Where?

Keep in mind that I'm a rank amateur.

Smells like chicken to me...don't do that. Turn the small elbow pipe for desired results.

This gasket is metal then? If it kinda sticks out, I guess i missed it cause it remained on the header end of the exhaust. I didn't find anything attached to the muffler end. I thought it was formed that way cause even after banging on it, it didn't budge. That gasket along with the spring loaded bolts allow some play at that joint. Pretty nice.

Anyway, I ended up ordering the 2.5" stepped band clamps from Jegs. I redid the clamps but there is still some play, although a bit less than before. I'll let people know when I get the clamps. Although it looked like there shouldn't be much of any leaks from the joint before the muffler.

Does the JBA exhaust have a bit of a burbling, snarling, aggressive-cam-like note at WOT? Maybe I am mistaking this for an exhaust leak?
