Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

I'm at 32k miles on my FJ, and noticed the two right front blades are 'pulling away' from the rubber... so i guess its time to replace the blades.

anyone have any pics on replacing the front blades? which size is needed for the fronts only?

thanks!

Re: Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

Driver's side is 16" the two others are 14". I used two 15" Anco winter wipers and trimed about 1/2 inch off of the rubber and they work fine.
Good luck. ...

NO, that is NOT my picture in my avatar. I wish I was that handsome. ......

Replacing them is fairly self explanatory, just take your time.

Press the little tab and slide the wiper blade out of the hook on the end of the arm. It is very simple.

Re: Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

I looked at a catalog yesterday and it showed a 13" for the center and passenger side, I knew it could take a longer blade than that. Has anyone installed Silblades or the PIAA silicone blades? The Silblades come with a 5 year warranty. Silicone blades appear to be the way to go.

Re: Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

I have the PIAA super silicone blades. I'm not happy with them, but my experience may be very different than most people. I get a lot of bug hits and end up with crud stuck to the blades. Crap seems to stick to them worse than other blades, so I'm constantly cleaning them. I had them about a week when they worked just as poorly as the old ones I took off. I think they are probably very good wipers if you don't take on a lot of bugs... and maybe it is the type of bug I'm trying to wipe off. Who knows.

Re: Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

I have been using Rainex blades for summer 16/13/13 and winter blades with "ice melting" washer fluid with good results...buy now as they are hard to find in the winter.
Amazon usually has incredible prices on blades

Re: Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement?

I've used RainX blades on a Ford Escape with good results... but it didn't have a vertical windshield that caught every bug on the road, so I don't know if they would be better for me or not.
