ABS Sensor?

OK so my dash is lit up like Christmas. All my lights that are related to ABS are on. At first I thought my atrac hac had done it but no, all that still works or atleast the lights come on. I know the R Locker is working and the Atrac came on with it. I was not wheeling or anything when the lights came on. So I got on here and started searching for my problem. I have narrowed it down to the Sensor I think. I have checked the wires and all are intact and the sensors plugged in. I tried to reset the computer by unhooking the battery and touching the wires together as well. No luck. So I am wanting to know how do I check the sensors? I do not want to take it to a dealership to have them charge me a crazy amount of money. I do have a voltmeter if I can use that. Also is there a way to clear the codes once I have the problem fixed or is that going to have to be done by Toyota? Thanks alot. I have searched for it and it go me to here so please help me. If it is in a post and I just missed how to check them then let me know where it is, because it seems like many people have had this problem. Thanks alot.

Re: ABS Sensor?

You can take it to Autozone or the likes and they can read the codes for free for you but it sounds like it is a wheel sensor. They are very easy to change, one hex head bolt and the plug, that's it.

Re: ABS Sensor?

Basically you want to check for continuity of the cable. You can unplug the sensor at the bottom of the spindle and in the engine bay on top of the shock tower. If there is continuity on both wires then it is more than likely a faulty sensor. The dealership may or may not cover it under warranty depending on how they treat modified vehicles. Good luck.

Re: ABS Sensor?

Hope you get this issue resolved. After I put my RC 6" lift on, my steering wheel was clocked which caused the lights on the dash to come on. Is your steering wheel clocked? There's a sensor that determines whether or not it's turned straight or not.

Yes it is and it has been for a while. The thing with that is you can disconect the battery and it will reset. Disconecting the battery will not make this go away.
