Put new TRD Brake pads, brake pedal goes WAY down

So we just put new brake pads on my 08 and the brake pedal goes A LOT further down then it did before. Can't figure out why. I also put a 3 inch level kit on and 33's but didn't think either of those would make a difference. Anybody ever come across this? Sorry if its been posted, couldn't find it via search and this is my first post. Thanks!

Re: Put new TRD Brake pads, brake pedal goes WAY down

"Just" meaning you only pushed the peddle down once and found that it went way to far? Or did you push it down 4 or 5 times yet?

"Before driving the vehicle, push the brake pedal down and let it up slowly, repeat until normal brake pedal operation resumes, this operation is forcing the brake pads to travel to the brake rotors. DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL PROPER BRAKE PEDAL OPERATION IS PRESENT."

Just bring it to a dealer or Firestone and have the brakes bled. You might have got air in them or even a little leak when putting on the lift.

Re: Put new TRD Brake pads, brake pedal goes WAY down

Sorry, just meaning today. Drove it around for awhile hoping it would go back to normal. Never did. It lets you pump it up which was weird. Even still, it takes almost to the floor to stop. My mechanic said he has to call Toyota tomorrow b/c he is at a lost. Just figured I would see if anybody else had this problem.

i really doubt theres is air in the lines....sounds like the pads just need to bed into the rotors or its just in your head

Its got 48000 on it. Commuted from Omaha to Lincoln everyday for some time. Luckily, not anymore.

I wish it was just in my head, but it is definitely not right. Hope to know more tomorrow after talking to Toyota, however that seems unlikely hearing some of their answers to easy things. Shannanigans!

Re: Put new TRD Brake pads, brake pedal goes WAY down

Just got back from Toyota. They have no clue. They are going to try and bleed the brakes but don't think thats it. Also are turning the rotors, which were just turned last night. Up to $350 so far and awaaaaaaaay we go.
