Gear oil service intervals

Am I missing something? I've read through the owners manual and the service/maintenance log and don't see anything about changing the diff/t-case gear oils. I only see where it says 'inspect' diff/t-case oil. I switched to Mobil 1 75-90 at 40K. Anybody?

You're right. I did the same double take after reading all the posts here about changing the diff. fluid. From what I remember, the manual says to change it at 30k if you're following the severe use schedule(i.e. towing). The consensus here though seems to be change it AT LEAST every 30k no matter what. Possibly a response to failures in early production models, or maybe just good policy on a 4x4. Certainly can't hurt.

I replaced the rear diff. with Mobil1 at 25k. Haven't done the otheres b/c I've heard they don't need it near as often(don't get used as much as the rear).

Re: Gear oil service intervals

I say you're right to change them even before 30K. It's not that expensive.

Re: Gear oil service intervals

The Canadian maintenance menu absolutely has a change interval for the axles, TC, transmission, etc.

I did a very early initial change, at 1,200 km. Am glad I did, the rear axle was black already
