Re: Anyone runnin' there HD Rear Lower Links w/Bushings??

I installed these on Sat....So far I've only drivin' on the highway with them, and I have noticed a difference in the rear sloppiness....I'll have a mini write-up on them sometime this month along with a write-up of some other mods that are in the works...If the stock rear links were 16 oz. water bottles, these things are 1L bottles!!

Re: Anyone runnin' their HD Rear Lower Links w/Bushings??

Still looking at these, on the fence. Thought that there would be more information on these by now. I have looked at what is under my FJ and there is not much too the lower or upper control arm's. Not sure that I need steel joints and or hard bushings. I do think that stronger shafts would make me feel better on a small trail going up the side of a hill with rocks with paint scrapes on them. My old Toyota had leaf springs front and back.

The AP's were delivered to me yesterday...looking forward to installing these. I compared them to the MAF's, but I wanted something with flex. I don't mind spending a little more time under my rig .

These are the guys to go with for flex, MAF's new lower (and upper) rear arms. They have end joints that swivel, but are MUCH stronger than johnny joints. I had upper rears with johnny joints, and I managed to disintegrate the johnny's within a year. The MAF parts will stand up MUCH better.

Re: Anyone runnin' their HD Rear Lower Links w/Bushings??

Just looked at the MAF. web sight and those are great looking links. I think that they maybe more than I need, but that is much better than what is under the vehicle now. I think the two different ends is a good choice for ride quality! The upper control arms that came with the FJ are so small an the lower are thin I will need to change this before I start hauling a trailer or go hard off road.

Re: Anyone runnin' their HD Rear Lower Links w/Bushings??

Here's a link to the photo. They're bigger and thicker in real life than they look in this photo. The end swivel joints in particular are much beefier than the johnny joints. They're more like the ball joints on the Total Chaos upper control arms. I can't remember the numbers on the specs for the swivel joints (Al at MAF told me), but they're way over kill for the FJC. I like over kill. I find non-over kill parts tend to crumble.

For those who might be looking for a beefier rear LCA that retains stock bushings, there is a new alternative that I haven't heard about on the forum. Sonoran Steel has a new set of links that look real beefy and use the stock Toyota bushings.

Not looking too just cutting the arms apart and welding heavier steel between the old bushing's. I am trying to improve the nature of the ride. Stronger and more articulation of the solid rear axle is what I am hoping to end up with.

Probably a post for a forum area other than the MAF area.
