With a 23 gallon tank, we could lose a couple and not miss them.

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary fuel tank

The tank is right behind the bumper and as most of us don't have a steel rear bumper yet, I see this getting alot of impact in a rear end collision. Any testing with regards to this safety factor?

There is still a welded steel cross beam at the end of the frame rails underneath all that plastic and foam. So while it may not be as stout as aftermarket steel bumpers, there is steel nonetheless.

And the Man a Fre website states that the hardened skid is not installed on any of their pics.

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary fuel tank

The rear of the tank is slightly angled, but I will definately consider shaving more off for the clearance. From the picture it looks like the tank hangs down lower than it does, but it actually keeps it within the departure slope.

I posted up here to get feedback like this, thank you.

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary fuel tank

I like it, but IMO it appears to hang kind of low for rock crawling. Although, it's hard to tell from the angle that the picture was taken.

Any chance you plan to make a high clearance version that has less capacity and is tucked up higher?

Any thought given to moving the fuel pump from the stock tank to the aux fuel tank so that we can do away with the stock tank? Would certainly help with the 3-link setup.

This attachment looks a lot better than the picture, so maybe (as you said) clearance isn't that big of issue. This may be down to road for me, but I definitely NEED more range.

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary fuel tank

This is nice. It would be good to see other size choices where we could add the full 23 gallon tank or something half that size.
