I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure it would work. It looks like the tire swingout is off-centered to allow for the jerrycan. I'm not sure the jerrycan would fit with the stock spare location. Steve?
I was thinking the same thing, I would like to use the stock tire location and add the fuel swing arm. You may be able to do this, if you "rotate" the fuel carrier 90 degrees, this would allow a little more width, I think....or should I say I hope...Steve can you shed some light on this, thanks.

Re: Kaymar Question

Yes, it would even save some weight if we could just run the can swingout.

I have the OME 895 medium coils in the back, they should be fine with a metal bumper, but I do not want to get to heavy, or the springs may have to be swapped out to the 896s.

A nice rear bumper will round out all of the other mods I have on the rig.

Re: Kaymar Question

I dont think they had only the can carrier in mind. I am not sure if they will fit with the tire in the stock location. I did develope a great way to hold extra fuel though---->Extra Fuel!

I will check into them rotating the can carrier, but so far all of Kaymar's carriers sit one way. Even if it is rototed I am not sure if it will fit, plus the license plate holder would look funny.

Re: Kaymar Question

Thanks, the license plate I can always move to another location. I noticed that you say we could use just the bumper or the swing out that will be sold seperately. If you use just say the fuel carrier, we would have to buy the tire swing out too. because our tires would not fit with just one swing arm. I was just thinking that if we could still use our existing carrier and maybe offset the fuel carrier alittle to the right by rotaing it 90 degrees, would be a huge selling point IMHO. I know a lot of members are looking for this type of system. I would think you would have a real winner, not saying that you don't allready, but it would make it even more apealling to a wider market being it was that more flexable, anyways, just my 2 cents, since it's still in the prototype stages... Great idea by the way

Re: Kaymar Question

very nice, would there be room to mount a hi-lift behind the tire? I saw this on an 80 and it looked very nice with the hi-lift back there and saved room on the roof.

Re: Kaymar Rear Swingout Tire & Fuel Carrier Bumper

Shadow, I guess selling the arms seperate was only thought out for customers wanting the tire carrier only. I will speak with Kaymar about a can carrier that can work with the factory tire holder. It will be pretty difficult to change it as of right now, Kaymar unfortunately does not have an FJ to try new ideas on.

jeshua, there will definately be a high-lift mount, we have already developed one, no pictures yet though.

Mark - We detailed your rig for the show this weekend, I think this is the cleanest I have ever seen it!

Re: Kaymar Rear Swingout Tire & Fuel Carrier Bumper

Hi Steve:

I have a couple of questions:

1. Will trimming of the plastic side panels be needed to install the Kaymar, and

2. Will the Kaymar rear bumper decrease departure angle?

Thanks. Very nice product. This is what I was hoping the ARB bumper would look like.

Oh please please make it happen

I really like the stock spare tire mount, and just the addition of the fuel can would be cool.

I already have the Hi-Lift problem solved.
It use to be on my rack, now I have new rings for the Fourtrek mounts and they are on the ARB, so the COG is better without the weight on the roof.
