Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary Fuel Tank --> INSTALLED

Thanks FJ4RWS - that was the exact detail I needed!

Thanks everyone else for the feed-back, but I had to ask. The pic is actually the Bassani although my Borla is piped almost the same until it exits and sits even lower at the rear. The Borla dual was an early mod and had ended up being a low hanging target. I was trying to avoid the added cost of going back to a single Flowmaster or Magnaflow, but that will happen sooner than later now if I get serious about this Aux tank. I guess I will be posting a used Borla dual soon...

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary Fuel Tank --> INSTALLED

Now, back to the fill-up "problem." I went to an ARCO station today and DIDN'T have any problem filling up the auxillary tank! Hooray!!!

The main was full and the aux was down a little over a 1/2 tank. The aux gauge read between 1/2 - 3/4 full before making the transfer to the main, but the total fill was a little over 11 gallons. The nozzle on the pump just had a cup at the end (no long spring valve) and filled very slowly at the lowest clip setting.

So, there's at least one station that I can go to where I can fill up w/o difficulty, but there's still a problem filling up if I go anywhere else, which is unacceptable. So, I still waiting to for BBhog to get back to me with a permanent fix. I'll let y'all know the results, if and when I get 'em.

PS: I just received my 3rd check engine light after the last fill-up, which is apparently due to some emissions issue associated with the aux tank. Quickly reset it by disconnecting the battery again, but this is also very annoying and is also supposed to be fixed by BBhog's fix.

Re: FJ Cruiser Auxiliary Fuel Tank --> INSTALLED

Are these confirmed to be steet legal in all states? Or are you guys that have had them installed just crossing your fingers? MAFs web site still indicates these are not street legal.

Just crossing fingers... (there's no way to make them street legal (DOT approved) without a whole bunch of crash tests - that's not going to happen).

Not necesarily. More info on some of the legal lit summarized at: Fuel tank regulations

(don't recall but think this link may have be posted before)

Part 3 of the list on the link page talk about drop and crash tests to meet "VESC-22" and "FMVSS 301". I know that isn't fiscally viable for the MAF tanks.
