Needed some snow tires and bought some Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 and mounted them on some Factory alloys. They were awesome in winter. Stop on a dime on ice!

I bought a Yakima Swing Daddy bike carrier so when I go out with the bikes I have full access to the rear door whether I have the bikes on or not.

Places My Fj has visited.
First year we had her was our Honeymoon where we drove down the Oregon Coast from Portland all the way down to the Redwood Forest in California.
Somewhere close to Lincoln City.

Hey your FJ is great, I have the same color 2010 I just pick up. I already add the hitch and have the passage side arm rest on order next I am looking at the window vents. What is the brand name of the vent visors you installed? They look good and I was wanting if you have any wind noise? Thanks for the advice.

#11 ·
Thanks.
They are AVS (LUND) in Channel Ventvisors. Had a small issue with one getting hit when the window rolled up every once in a while so I pulled it off cleaned it and reapplied a 3M double sided tape and it works flawlessly now. As for wind noise, I'm not sure. I put them on the day I got the FJ. It is nice to have a little airflow when it is raining or snowing. Also nice to leave the window down a little when parked in the heat.

Nice build!

Did you just put spacers up front to level things out after the bumper install? If so did you notice any adverse effects? I put a FabFours bumper w/winch on my '08 and leveled it back out with spacers until I could afford either a lift or coilovers. After having the bumper/winch on for about two years, the suspension has gotten really mushy. I understand why and know that a higher spring-rate would fix the problem however, I'd really like to get a nice set of coilovers and they don't exactly give them away. Just wondering which path you chose or are planning to choose.

#18 ·
Nope! I don't have any spacers or lift at this time. I went with the Demello Single Hoop because I really liked the looks and It is pretty lightweight. I think adding that and subtracting all the OEM stuff there was maybe a 40lb difference. It still rides and drives like it just rolled off the assembly line. The before and after height with the new bumper was about 1/8" difference. I do not have a winch at this time and will probably have to access the suspension issue when the winch goes in.

#20 ·
What did you use to "de paint" your bumper trim? That's the cleanest I've ever seen it come out.

It was called VHT strip fast paint remover.
Yeah they did come out nice!
It is pretty simple. Spray VHT on, let sit gently rub paint off with nylon brush, repeat if necessary.
Here is a link to the process.

And pictures of it bubbling off! Wear long sleeves and gloves because even a drop on your skin burns! Eye protection is a great idea too!

Thanks!
