With deference to Shadow Warrior, Sol, Amanda, Todd, Thong and everybody else who has put their stamp on the FJ, in my opinion, Mark has put together what in my opinion is the ultimate all-around heavy-duty FJ.
When I think "expedition", I think of this FJC. When I think about the FJ that is built to tackle any terrain, I think of this FJC. His other ride might be the Mars Recon Orbiter, but if you put his FJC on Mars with an engine that didn't rely on air to run, it would show the Solar System a thing or two.
When you're on the Mojave Road and you see this beast arrive:
You KNOW that the rubber has hit the rocks.
And when things get tough, you know who's going to pull you out of the mire.

Yeah - this coming year I for sure want to do the TTORA rubicon trip, having missed it this past year. Maybe you could be my IFS rescue vehicle?
Sound good to me. Jason has asked to be passenger/photographer in my FJC, so we should get some good pictures. We can either do the Rubithon, TTORA, Marlin Crawler or any of the other group Rubicon trips. Actually if we got enough interest/people we could actually do our own group trip. BTW, I doubt you'll need any rescue assistance.

It'd be nice to do an FJC run. How early in the year can it be run?

It really depends on the snowfall and subsequent melt-off of the snow. I would say mid-June is probably the earliest, but the water could be deep and the ground very soft making the trail susceptible damage and accelerated erosion from spinning wheels. From what I remember Rubithon is typically one of the first organized events of the season and it take place in the middle of June. However, there are a number of folks that run the Rubicon in the winter as well. There is supposed to be some awesome snow wheeling during the winter.

I hadn't even thought of winter. That would be awesome. I have a pretty adaptable schedule from after the new year into mid-March.

I know Jim and Matt do a bit of snow wheeling on the Rubicon. I'm sure we could get them to be our trail guides. Snow camping as well. I'd be up for a winter run if your interested. Just need to make sure my life insurance is paid up before going.

Yeah, I'd be VERY interested in doing this in the early new year. Inchworm trip!
