where did you get the 2' firestick? got a link?
Can you tell much of a difference?
Yep, I got it on-line from Walcott. Firestik II FS (Hand Tune) Antennas 2 Foot Lengths

I haven't put it to any official long-range tests yet, but from what I can tell reception-wise and a couple of radio checks with some truckers several miles away on the Interstate, it's doing its job well.

nice mod Steve. I also run the 2ft stick it works just fine and another advantage is it doesn't bang on the trees on a run..

CB Radio

Next up was once again moving the extended CB microphone jack to yet another more convenient location. This time I installed the mike jack under the center dash cover so the mike cable wouldn't be protruding over to the passenger leg area (where I had it previously).

Light Switches

Proper installation required removal of the center switch panel. Upon installing the switches (with some minor Dremel work), I pre-wired all of the switched and labeled the respective leads for later connection.

Steve,
Great installation as always.

Couple of questions:
1) where did you find the extended CB microphone jack?
2) How did you remove the centre switch panel?

Thanks, targa!!

1) Radio Shack carries both the male and female CB microphone connectors.

2) I just happen to know the answer to that question as well. Some clever guy posted up this thread.

Talking Name Steve's "no-clever-name FJ" contest!!

The official Name LandCruiserSteve's FJ contest.

For too long now, LandCruiserSteve's FJ Cruiser has gone without an official clever name.

No more will Steve's FJ hide in the shadows of great FJ names like "The Scorpion," "VooDoo Death," "The RAPTOR," "The WIKID," "Taira," "The BugEater," "Cherry Garcia" and "The Silver Submarine."

Rather than deciding upon a name himself, Steve is asking members of the forum to help select a name that best suits this mild-manned, understated Sun Fusion.

And, whoever submits the name that is selected and approved by Steve, will win their choice of . . .

An official Trail Teams Map Trail Portfolio.

Or . . .

A genuine (not a replica) 2007 FJ Summit Grill Badge.

Suggestions/submissions may be posted in this thread and/or PM'd to Steve.

Remember, the name must be clever and unique, and one that fits both Steve's personality , as well as his FJ and its respective modifications.

(No silly, cornball, radical, profane, ultra-boring, senseless or any other unsuitable submissions will be accepted. LandCruiserSteve reserves the right to delete any such submissions from this thread. So there. )

The winner will be announced as soon as the perfect name for Steve's no-clever-name FJ is selected.

Good luck!!

EDIT: Heck . . . even if I don't end up using one of the suggested names, the most appropriate and clever one submitted will be still the winner!!

Re: LandCruiserSteve's no-clever-name Sun Fusion needs a clever name contest!!

hmm.. my attempt:

"Rabid Banana Slug"

"Unmarked"

"Rod Stewart"

"Banana/Vanilla Swirl"

"Off-Duty"

If you had a snorkel..

"Yellow-Submarine"

"clever name"

"Hell Taxi"

"Outback Taxi"

I could go on forever..

OK Steve, I'll be the first.
Judging by all the stuff you have done, and you yourself called her "mild -mannered" , but we all know that is not true. I would call her, "GIZMO" Just add water.

Looks like "The 100k FJ" to me...

Seriously though, Steve - you are to be commended for the quality of the work you've done. And, perhaps moreso, for your willingness to come in here and share your step-by-step build up with the rest of us'ns.

Many thanx, Steve.

Re: LandCruiserSteve's no-clever-name Sun Fusion needs a clever name contest!!

This might be incredibly lame but.....'Warwick'
This is the first name of the guy who attempted to 'cross' European and African honey bees creating - Killer Bees!
Why? Because it looks like a Bada$$ killer bee and what better name than the name of the creater of said bee - Warwick Estevam Kerr (look him up on Wikipedia: I think the name fits!)
