Re: Kiroi Hako . . . . LandCruiserSteve's Sun Fusion

He he, thanks Steve.
Hey, the light is cool, I will have to read up on that later.

Yeah, wish I could hit the Summit this year, but can not.
I would have to have flown out anyways.

Nice rig Steve... have you thought of making the rear box in a half configuration to retain the rear seats?

Thanks, action.

Yep, I've built the rear section only for a number of other FJ owners. The rear storage area is essentially a modular section of the entire set-up, even though it all looks like one piece. Matter of fact, the original "BOX" rear section is now in the possession of TennesseeSquire (in his FJ), and he still retains his rear seats.

In one of the pics on the top, I noticed what looked like a winch cable coming out of the rear.

Re: Kiroi Hako . . . . LandCruiserSteve's Sun Fusion

And, to prove I've actually been doing something recently on my FJ . . . .

I built yet another version of the "BOX" (this one to replace the original that has since been "inherited" by TennesseeSquire).

Although similar in basic design (with a few hardware configuration changes), this one was built with marine-grade 1/2" plywood (instead of 3/4") and uses a "skeleton" frame for the sides and bottom . . . . thus yielding the same strength and storage capacity, but half the overall weight of the original.

I lowered the auto shift knob yet another inch and a half from the previous lowering, which puts it completely out of the way of reaching across the console.

And finally, the "mini" rack mod has found its way upon the roof of my FJ.

Steve,
Do you have more pix of the new and improved box design. Particularly the skeleton frame.

This is the only pic I had time to take, since I was in a hurry to get this particular unit done for the Summit. (It shows the bottom of the rear storage area.) However, I'll post up some more with the very next one that I build.
