Steve, I wish that both you (and Bill/Dragon) lived on my street AND had lots of free time, so that you could help me make my FJ look 1/10th as good as both of yours do!

Good news, Mello. Bill and I are moving into your neighborhood!!

(The bad news is, your property values are now gonna drop. )

However, thanks for the kudos.

You're very welcome! If it meant that you and Bill were actually going to move into my neighborhood, I would welcome a lower property value, as well! The way that our property taxes are here in Florida, I would be more than happy to see some kind of a reduction in them, even if it meant our home was worth less. Then, with the money I save in taxes, you guys could help me do even more mods on my FJ!

In my opinion, it would be a win-win situation for me!

Re: Kiroi Hako . . . . LandCruiserSteve's Sun Fusion

Nothing monumental. I simply decided to remove the "BajaRack" logo and repainted the air dam satin black to give it a cleaner look that better matched my other blacked-out components.

(As much as I love this great rack, I'm not big on my truck being a product advertising medium. )

Kiroi Hako

(Japanese for "The Yellow Box")

[img**]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h144/LandCruiserSteve/Cruiser%201/Desktop2-1.jpg[/img**]

Is there no end to the time and money that you can dump into these crazy things????

[img**]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h144/LandCruiserSteve/Cruiser%201/collage15a.jpg[/img**]

I certainly hope not!!!!
[/i]

hmm, very 'pretty rig'...

Intended usage and build premise:

- Daily driver and moderate to semi-rigorous off-road rig.
- A professional look to all modifications (no visible or dangling wires, no Velcro, no double-sided tape, no suction cups, no duct tape, etc.)
- Nothing that would intrude upon driver or passenger safety, comfort or ergonomics in the front seats.
- An efficient rear storage / sleep system in lieu of a (never-to-be-used) back seat.
- Appropriately equipped with all necessary emergency, communications, navigation, personal safety and off-road recovery gear.
- Understated and subdued appearance (no bling, no product advertising and no for-looks-only).

The journey began with a bare-bones Sun Fusion 4x4 AT.

Build date: 11/06
Purchase date: 01/07
Purchase price: $25,700

[img**]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h144/LandCruiserSteve/Cruiser%201/MemberBuild1a.jpg[/img**]

Time-of-purchase OEM items included:

Locking rear differential
17" standard black steel wheels
Convenience Package
Side curtain air bags
Standard single disc radio

alright...

Off-road modifications / aftermarket add-ons:

BF Goodrich 285/70R/17 All-Terrain KO tires
Old Man Emu "Heavy" (886/896) 3" suspension
A-TRAC
Toyota OEM rock rail
Warn winch bumper (eventually replaced with All-Pro)
All-Pro front winch bumper
All-Pro rear bumper
All-Pro skid plate package (front / transmission / transfer case) (Post #179)
Warn M8000 winch (w/ under-hood solenoid mount) (Post #313)
The SOLENOID mounted under-hood is a custom package or something? I'm pretty sure most m8000's are like that...
Warn Hawse fairlead w/ D-shackle (Post #313)
Poor man's rear winch
ok, i wouldn't even bother listing this, congrats on buying a d-ring shackle. if you can even get the winch line clear under your vehicle to it when you're stuck or pulling which I doubt, it will probably just bind your entire front end and blow up front CVs
Pro-Comp 100W off-road lights (Post #101)
Dual post-mounted Unity 250,000 candlepower spotlights

Exterior modifications:

Added OEM roof rack
definitely need one of those to load up and set your CG up higher in an FJ of all rigs.
Roof rack HiLift jack mount
Roof rack cross-bar modification for (3) gas can mounting
yes, gas can mount, perfect
Painted bezel black (Post #32)
geez, i guess i should mention on my rig buildup that I repainted my front diff when all the paint went missing. I used flat black.
Painted outside rear-view mirrors black (Post #146)
holy ****! that'll help me crawl better. Or is this a hot rod FJ and I'm on a show car forums buildup page?
Replaced door handles with black Tundra handles (Post #146)
"De-badged" rear door emblems
OH! I am!!!
Added 2" blind-spot mirrors
Definitely a big modification!!
Disconnected DRL's
Painted wheel weights to match black wheels
OH MY GOD!!! THAT'S SICK!
Hidden extra key wing-nutted someplace on FJ
Glad you told everyone about that sick wing-nut mod too!
All-Pro trailer hitch
OEM trailer wiring harness
An OEM trailer wiring harness is considered a modification here too???
Wheel locks for all five wheels
EVEN MORE SICKNESS!
2nd OEM hi-freq horn (mounted up front next to the original) (Post #179)
WOW, Definitely couldn't have used that money on anything more functional!
Simple Auxiliary BackUp Light install . . . .
"Mini-Me" OEM roof rack modification (Post #356)
BajaRack roof rack installation (Post #367)
EXACTLY WHAT IT NEEDS!!

Interior modifications:

Completely removed rear passenger seats
THIS IS CONSIDERED A MODIFICATION???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? My rigs seats are removable, I better post a buildup page and EDIT it EVERY TIME I remove/replace the back seats!!
Full-length rear storage system (The "BOX")
OH SICK! THE BOX!
BOX-mounted electric shotgun rack
You definitely don't have a badass rig unless the eletric shotgun rack is mounted up!
BOX-mounted 3-cell Maglight flashlight
I'm glad all this good TECH is posted up here.
Streamlight Stinger flashlight (w/ charger mounted in drivers door)
Amerex A417 fire extinguisher mounted behind passenger seat
Wouldn't you just let this thing burn so you could start over with another rig that doesnt have 3k lbs of "modifications" that consist of bolt on plastic, rubber and random stuff weighing it down??
Galls industrial first-aid kit (mounted on side of the BOX)
Secondary public safety style first-aid kit
Consolidated center switch panel OEM switches (top row) (Post #179)
Installed (4) 4x4mods.com illuminated lighting switches (bottom row) (Post #179)
In-cab winch controls (Post #313)
Removed driver side arm rest (too low for me)
Removed driver side overhead grab handle (too many bumps on my head)
Removable mounted grocery baskets / ice chests
really?? really???? I have removable grocery mounts in my rig too... grocery bags! But wait, yours is BUILT for going to the grocery store and the mall parking lot. my bad.
Single-push all doors unlock key fob
Replaced 12V auxiliary jack with actual cigarette lighter
Blacked out all dash and console trim pieces (Posts #148 & #166)
Shortened the AT shift knob by 6 inches (Post #356)
Installed LifeHammer on the forward face of the BOX (Post #341)
Replaced standard MagLight with the rechargeable high-output version (Post #341)
Revised the BOX (Post #341)
You revised it?? I revised my windshield once by breaking it and putting in a new one

Electronics / communications equipment:

Uniden 15W PC68XL CB radio (mounted to rear console)
Cobra HiPro CB microphone w/ remote front center dash jack (Post #179)
FireStik CB antennas (2' & 4')
Bandi CB antenna mount
Cobra GMRS two-way radio(s)
Garmin 276C GPS system (mounted over rear-view mirror)
XM satellite radio system (hard-wired to OEM stereo)
Roof-top GPS and satellite antennas
Dash-mount cellular phone (w/ dedicated power jack)
Installed BlueSea 12-circuit switched fuse panel under dash
Under-hood relay and circuit breaker system for BlueSea fuse panel

For some crazy reason, I get the feeling that I'm just getting started . . . .

No, I'd say you're pretty much done weighing this thing down. It's time to lock it, rock it, roll it, and burn it. You definitely built the baddest rig around... Oh wait, I'm pretty sure you could get a decent crawler, tow vehicle, trailer and even enough balls to put a scratch in some paint for less $ then you wasted on blacking out panels, installing switches, way too many light etc... I'm glad you placed the gas cans up top too - you'll only lose a couple MPG mounting them up there until you say screw it and burn the thing to the ground.

Some of LandCruiserSteve's lame attempts at humor:

The Top 10 reasons why Sun Fusion is good . . .

And now, the Top 10 reasons why Sun Fusion is bad . . .

Solution to the engine bay cracks.

Caught doing 46 mph over the speed limit . . . .

The Top 10 FJ Cruiser mods for OLD Land Cruisers
yeah, thats just great... bolt anymore stuff to it in the time I made my commentary?
