Matter of fact, I had initially tried the metal Blitz cans, but their extra weight and lack of the self-venting valves made them not as desirable for my applications.
That's partially why I'm asking; I carry a metal can mounted behind my spare tire, and during the to/from Ouray trips noted that the lack of a self-venting cap presented some issues when making extreme altitude changes. When the can had very little air inside, the increase/decrease in pressure actually created slight buckles in the metal, which over time I figure is likely to create some problems with metal fatigue, etc. (not to mention that to access the spare tire, I have to removethe rear part of the blitz carrier, which is a hassle).

So I've been looking for alternatives. Thanks for the info!

That's exactly why I decided to got with the self-venting cans. After my Ouray trip (at close to 13,000 feet in some places), I drove down to Phoenix (@1100 feet) with the gas cans full and experienced no pressure changes at all that affected the cans' integrity, thanks to the "breathing" self-venting system.

Steve it's been a few hours since your last mod, aren't you about due to post some new whimsical mod? Between you, Larry, Sol and Air I'll never get a vacation to enjoy my ride! ((Actually I work my last weekend tomorrow!))

Fantastic write up and ride. <--- You know I'm referring to your FJ I hope. I've seen that shotgun!

It just so happens that a few whimsical mod ideas are in-progress.

And, it's kinda tough keeping up with all your great mod ideas as well.
