You four realize you've quad-handedly made my $30k truck look wimpy, right? I think I'm entitled to damages. I'll take a ride in all four as compensation.
Jason, if I write you a really sad story about the challenges of living without a Demello Built FJ, will you come on Oprah and do a pro-bono build for me? Think of the press. Every soccer mom would SAS their H2's and Suburbans. I bet She'd even give the entire audience some hi-lift jack mounts from your shop.
C'monnnnnnnnnnn
Been there done that no thank you
We built a friends Tacoma a couple years ago for him while he was stationed in IRAQ. Did a TV spot for spike Telvision and everything. Lets just say the whole thing didn't go well for us
They will flex alot better when we fix the air bumps. I couldn't get them to push up into there cylinder cans so I thought if I ran it through the ditch they would push up in there. I was wrong. So once I get those fixed and pull the saw-away pins in the rear it should flex pretty good.
Whooo back up a few steps..lol we haven't driven it out of the parking lot yet. I don't think I will till Sol gets here. We need to fill the tank up and double check everything today. I'm not to worried though Wyatts truck has a very simular set up and his rides and handles pretty good on the street.
Thats really awesome but let me play devils advocate.
Why would you chop up a new vehicle and spend all that money when you could have just bought an old solid axle rig?
Because he likes the FJ and wants to improve on it. He doesn't feel he can find a comparable older vehicle? That's my guess. Yes... that's my final answer.

Thats what I was thinking. I sooo wish Toyota would come out witih a solid axle FJ with a diesel and manual locking hubs. That would rule.
IFS has its places and is superior in most situations but I like the simplicity of solid. Plus its easy to lift!

Jason feel free to go drive it down the freeway at 80mph and then come back here and post that it was smooth as glass.

Just awesome photos. Sol I am going down there right now and will post many more photos when I get back this evening.
Many congratulations - I can't wait to check it out again myself.
Thanks Todd! I can't wait to see your FJC tomorrow. We'll have to park them side by side and snap a few photos before I take off.

I've had older Toyota trucks (83 solid axle and an 89 IFS) that I bought new and then after 8 or so years of ownership I built and wheeled for them for many more years. I like the older Toyota trucks, but this time around I wanted to build a new truck rather then buy an old one and build it. It was just personal preference.

I'm a newb too, so go easy on me, but I thought IFS was good? No?
Regardless, that is one. bad. RIG!!!
IFS is just fine and will work for >80% of the people that wheel there vehicles. As you wheel your IFS rig you will find that there limitation to it's capabilitities and in order to get though some obstacles you have to work harder. Along with working your IFS harder comes more broken parts. A solid axle conversion isn't for everyone, but based ont he types of trails that I like to run the SFA meets my needs better then IFS. In an attempt to not rehash the IFS .vs SFA discussion, there is a good thread here that compares the two. There are also a number of good threads that cover the IFS/SFA discussion on TTORA and Pirate4x4 bulletin boards.
