How are your Firestone's holding up?

I have about 14,000 miles on them and they still look fairly new

Re: Dragon's Build (Taira)

Thanks, I think in a couple of months I will get those, I just can't decide on 265's or 285's with OME 883's.

Re: Dragon's Build (Taira)

Love how you did the scepter gas cans. Questions: have you had them off road yet with gas in them? Wondering if the cross members are strong enough for the weight. This is a mod I've been looking into and i like the simplistic approach you took. I'm just worried those cross members can't take two full 5 gal cans. Thanks for the info in advance and for the idea.

Cheers!
Steve

Since this thread, I have slid the third lower rack member into place, so that the cans are resting on 3. Two supports fit between the last two rungs of the roof rack, and the third is just in front. I'll take a picture in just a couple minutes and show you. Two was not really enough. Three is good.

Ok, here is a pic of the three supports being used and where they are located. I simply took the top support on the rail and slid it back to "hug" the cans so they could not slide forward or back. I laid the cans down, but they rode fine both ways.

Wow...don't you think it's a bit much for just cruising the malls?

Re: Dragon's Build (Taira)

Thanks for the pics, I really like this idea. I have to ask again, cuz I'm just not sure about the answer. Have you had them loaded in an offroad situation? Laying up there static is a lot different than dynamic.

Oh, sorry. Yes, multiple situations. The 30mph climb up Ophir pass was more like a roller coaster. I have been sideways and articulated, as well as climbing steep. No problems at all.

Re: Dragon's Build (Taira)

Sorry to be a pain in the a$$ about it. Thanks for all the helpful info. This brings your total up to two mods I've done because of you. I also painted my bezel to match the roof. You rock Dragon!
