Can't wait to see these mounted to the rig!!
Did you mount the tire after it sat in the sun awhile? Just an old Karting trick to help the dismounting and mounting of tires by hand. (no irons either)
I didn't need too. It was very warm in the garage last weekend (Sat and Sun hi temp was close to 100F).
The BFG Mud Terrain fit just about perfectly onto the beadlock rings and I didn't really need to push down on the outer ring to thread the bolts in. The tire width is also just right for the wheel width as I was able to seat the inner bead with ~ 12 psi of air pressure, using my ARB air compressor.

Cool deal! Again, looking forward to seeing these on the rig.

Me too. I need to find time this weekend to get these balanced. I also forgot to mention that the wheel and tire combination weighs 82 lbs <-- that's 20 lbs lighter per wheel/tire from what I currently have on the FJC.

Very nice T. can't wait to get out on the dirt with you again and see what all these mods have done for you.

I'll be interested in hearing about any improvement in gas mileage, as well as any perceived increase in power from the lighter wheels.

Re: TC's FJC

I had all five TRD wheels and tires Road Force balanced (on a Hunter GSP9700) at Discount Tires in Poway this past Saturday. Here are a few photos of the new wheels and tires on the FJC.

The OMF beadlocked wheels are ~.75" wider (stock TRD wheel is 7.5" wide) which is about as wide as you would want to go with the 255/85R16 BFG Mud Terrain tires. These tires are also taller than the BFG 285/70R17 All Terrain by ~ 1/2" so I gain another 1/4" of ground clearance. For now, I have set the tire pressures at 35 psi front and 33 psi rear. The ride is firm and controlled and steering feels a bit more positive (no doubt due to the smaller contact patches up front).

Close-up view

The tire valve is recessed and very well protected by the outer beadlock ring but remains accessible for checking tire pressure and airing down and up.

Front tire clearance. I didn't have any rubbing issue with the UCAs although the passenger's side AT tire did slightly rubbed on the King coilover reservoir at full left lock (the bracket was bent out a little too much to clear the frame rail). The MT tire is ~1.2" narrower so there's plenty of clearance now.

Rear tire clearance. There was a very slight rub on the driver's rear AT tire with the King shock reservoir (just enough to wrinkle the decal on the reservoir). Plenty of tire clearance now too.
