Re: The ORIGINAL FJ . . . . . LandCruiserSteve's FJ-25
Great work Steve, I love old iron of any kind. We are of similar age; my first transportation was a '49 BSA and my first car was a '60 Beetle. Thanks for posting all the photos.

Incredible! Thank you Steve for sharing this. It's too bad you're too far away to attend the 50th anniversary celebration at the Toyota museum in Torrance.

Can you explain more about the history of the upside-down t-bird looking hood emblem? And the tires look retro is that what would have been on it originally?
The upside-down T-bird replaced the short-lived (and very rare) oval Toyota emblem that appeared briefly on the one '57 and the few '58 models.
This is the FJ-25 that it's from. (Restoration candidate?? )
The T-bird emblem remained as the official FJ-25 hood emblem until the introduction of the FJ-40 in the early 60's.
And, the tires were originally the military style "skinnies."
EDIT: Here's a slightly better pic of the original oval hood emblem.

Thanks, Thong. Yeah, I wish I wasn't so far away from Torrence, too.
Toyota has got the other pretty FJ-25 in their museum.

I am still scrolling back & forth in awe,.....that is a terrific, well written & documented stroll down memory lane Steve. Your documentaion leaves me wondering about 2 things.....can you sleep in it, and does it have heated seats? (couldn't pass that up)
Makes one hope that perhaps some of our grandchildren will pass our FJ's along too.
Seriously though, I am curious how difficult it was to locate the replacement parts, and/or what type of references were needed to locate the old stuff?
Once again, thanks for the stroll, and congrats on the priveledge of restoring & owning such a diamond.
Jerry (and if I can figure out the rep point thing, you'll get whatever I can send)
