whats the deal with the dropping jounces??? no loctite? or is it a design flaw?
A little of both. The issue is that the directions call for a set screw in the cup mount but the mounts that came with mine and I assume Larry's didn't have one or the room for one and they also don't recommend Loctite that way you can remove them some what easy if you have to for rebuild. Because mine and Larry's didn't have these set screws in place or a place for them they slowly worked lose and took of on there own. Larry's is some were on the Mojave road, mine I have no clue were it is. It could be in a ditch in town some were or on the freeway , I think I lost it in town on a dirt road short cut but didn't find it when I went back to look for it.
I was lucky enough to get a new one under warranty I am not sure what is happening with Larry's we shall see soon. I hope his is covered as well. When they sent me/Jason the new chubby it came with a new cup mount that has a set screw so the drivers side on mine isn't going any were plus Jack put loctite on it when he put it on. My passenger side has the old style cup mount still and some red loctite. I had Kim order me a new cup mount from Light Racing that has the set screw and when it comes in I will change it out for the old one on the passenger side so there is nothing to worry about.
If you have the old style with out a set screw make sure you check your chubby's on a regular bases'. And I recommend getting a new style with a set screw.

You've got a sweet rig there J!! I really liked the Moab photos and story too. I didn't remember reading, but did you suffer any body damage on the driver's side?
...sorry if you've been asked that a thousand times

Thank you I hope my FJ can be like your 4Runner one day. No body damage at all. I believe it is because of the the All Pro sliders that I received no damage. I can't wait to go to Moab again it was a lot more then I expected in terms of beauty and terrain.

Just got back from AZ last night/early this morning from watching a little spring training (Angles vs. Cubs) with Katfish, 3DTonka and Muddygrrl. Then did a little wheeling in Willow Springs with Sean K. and some of the other crazy AZFJ's. Had a great time but now the FJ is at the dealer getting some new pulleys and low lock sensor replaced under warranty (Still not sure on the Low lock sensor but it should be under it). Also getting the alignment done since its way off from all the wheeling I've done in the last year.
Next trip is Death Valley as long as I get the FJ back by Thursday night other wise I might have to take my rental out there.
My rental Nissan Murano (2 wheel drive)

this is a nice review of it from Jon in a diffrent thread

BellyDoc previously said:
Poor Tibaal... completely outclassed in the self-wreckage department by a guy with an unbelievably beaten IFS Toyota pickup, was driving safely and with, at worst, a temporary high-center. I don't even think he warranted a strap recovery today.
Homedad got a front/back double-winch pull.
Crazycarwes managed to incur body damage AND unseated a bead (which we actually got back on without removing the rim from the hub... very cool... 1LegLance would have been proud. He was dead-on right that it can be done with a ratchet strap and a powertank.
Ulfr got the "stuck-o'-the-day" award by going up a rock, sliding sideways, and then when he backed off of it to try again, he dropped neatly into a space between two vertical hunks of unmoving bedrock that were spaced apart exactly the length of his FJ Cruiser... but wait... it gets better! He was also leaning passenger-side and the passenger side front wheel was in QUICKSAND! This afforded us all well over an hour of total entertainment. There was eventually a front winch line, a back winch line and a Hi-Lift all hooked up at the same time. Other than some minor exhaust pipe abuse, it would appear that he got through it in excellent style.
I'm not making any of this up.
Here are the pictures of me that I have.

Looking good Jesh. Which has more power the Nissan or the FJ?
The nissan is a little fast I think its hard to tell though cause it has this weird tranny (Xtronic shiftless, variable transmission) it doesn't shift its the strangest thing and the first time you drive one you think its broken.
I am working on a little video right now and it has you in it . I'll post it tomorrow night.
