Nice! A penthouse!
So you must have given up on parking it in the garage

Well, for now honestly I'm not sure what we are going to do. I'm assuming that with about 2 weeks in between our next several camping trips we will be taking it on and off every time, but we are both oh so very lazy.

WOW!!! Very impressive R2FJ! I can only hope that one day our FJ will have 1/2 as many goodies as yours. Thanks for all the detailed posts.

Awesome ride. Where did you get the mount for the High Lift Jack? Love the skid plates.

Thanks, the mounts are from FourTrek. We just sold them actually because they don't fit on our new roof rack!

Beautiful rig! I have the same suspension setup as you guys. What problems were you having with the front and the way the reservoirs were mounted? Do you have a picture of the way the rear shocks are installed? I don't want to wheel too hard until I'm sure I won't bust one of my reservoirs during flex. Thanks!

Re: The Force is Strong With This One: R2FJ (by Mr/Miss R2FJ)

Oh my what a story...well to sum it up for you:

First shop initial install: front and rear shocks installed backwards and on wrong side/new UCA's installed backwards and upside down. This caused the front coils to rest on the swaybar.

Take two with first shop: reversed and re-installed everything correctly.

We do a lot of daily driving in this as well, so we set the shocks to the cushy setting...front res began being jammed up into top wheel well due to res being mounted on top of shock, along with res mounts being bent. Replaced res mounts.

Ran into another local person who actually had theirs installed by All Pro, so we changed the settings to what they left All Pro with. Front res still being rammed up into wheel well and res mounts bent...again.

Ran into Terry from All Pro at Sedonafest and told him about out problems....again. They couldn't figure out why we were having such issues, I guess nobody else really was. They decided to re-design the mount similar to the WE's and 2.5 set-up...sent us new brackets (thx Terry) and we haven't had any problems since!

Have never had any issues with the rears, other than the initial being installed wrong. I'm going in tomorrow to SDHQ for our 500 mile check-the-bolts-and-tighten-everything down, and also to have them adjust the coils higher in the front, which we tried to do ourselves Saturday and couldn't get them to go.

Hope this information helps.

Thanks a lot! I'm so far away from anybody else with the full setup it's hard to tell if mine is installed correctly. =(

I've been watching your build-up with interest. You've done a great job. The rig looks terrific. I think it's very important to make the rig "your own" with the mods suited directly to what you're going to use it for. You've definitely done that with spectacular results!

Thanks Larry, we really appreciate that! Can't wait to get out on some amazing runs with you! Hopefully our schedules can connect soon.

So an update to our front suspension, went back to SDHQ yesterday to adjust the front and the coils are maxed out. They were only able to get it up another 1/8". We are not happy with the front not being level with the back (damn that Road Armor bumper!) so our next step was to buy some new coils that were longer and stiffer to replace what is in there now...only problem is no such thing exists for this set up.

At this point our options are keep it and deal with it, or replace them with either the Fox 2.5 or the Icons. I'm sure we will have an update for you soon.

Re: The Force is Strong With This One: R2FJ (by Mr/Miss R2FJ)

A few weeks back we added limb risers to the truck. They worked like a charm in the tree canopy we encountered in the Chiricahuas, however they were constantly coming loose. On the suggestion of Homedad, and Cowboy 4X4's build, we opted for the spring method. I personally would like a little shorter spring, but we were limited on our selection so we went with these:

They seem to be holding much better now, and we still have the quick release option for opening the hood.
