I thought the same thing, then remembered how cool my girlfriend thought it was when we came up with the name Artoo for our dog, and how she too is a Star Wars fan.

Now, if I could only get Melanie to understand and accept the FJ mods a little easier then I'd have it all.

I agree with tiki. You are a lucky guy Mr. R2FJ. She even admits to being a gadget geek!
I have it good too, Amy kinda likes star wars but she put hard wood floors in our town house by herself remodeled the bathroom and got paint all over my new screw gun but thats ok she tolerates me so thats good too. Lol
Correction My wife said she is a real star wars fan thats what she was raised on, my bad.

Re: The Force is Strong With This One: R2FJ (by Mr/Miss R2FJ)

Mike reminded me of another quick update that we haven't done yet...laptop mount!

We went with the RAM no-drill mount for the FJ.

I'm really surprised at how comfortable it is to ride with this, it really doesn't take up much leg room and I don't think either of us has ever felt it was in the way. Only downside I can see so far is that you can't close the lid of the laptop all the way because of how the mount grips to it. You can close it far enough to get it out of your way however, or you can always swing it to the middle over the console if you get too annoyed with it.

We are using one of Josh's old laptops...Portable One SR2 with Delorme Topo and Ozi Explorer software, with a usb GPS puck mounted to the top. We also have the internets wherever we go via a usb connection to Josh's Moto Q Global cell phone.

I enjoyed your writeup, Nice Rig!! I was just pondering though, with your Mag Light mounted on the rear hatch.....have you ever considered some moron rear ending you? That flashlight could actually have a lethal impact if it were to become dislodged. I have been rear ended twice and both vehicles were totaled. I am just trying to look out for you.........You might be a great driver, but there is always someone else that could potentialy ruin your day.

Ya I hear ya, I've actually been thinking lately that we should switch it out to the Quickfist set-up just for that particular reason!

Great writeup , really enjoyed reading the progress you've made your sweet rig. Can I ask what kind of cargo bag you are using on top of your roof rack? I'm looking for something similar to yours. Looks like it fit really nice...

Re: The Force is Strong With This One: R2FJ (by Mr/Miss R2FJ)

It does fit perfectly, but I warn you its only water-resistant not waterproof...so if you live somewhere it rains a lot it probably won't do you much good! But I think Mr. R2 picked it up at Checker Auto Parts.

I know Cabelas has one that IS waterproof: Cabela's Roof Top Carrier - Black

Its about $100 more than what we paid, but you get what you pay for I guess!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to have to pick one of these up. Does yours just sit on top of the roof?

Re: The Force is Strong With This One: R2FJ (by Mr/Miss R2FJ)

We sit it on the roof rack bars when we can, but we have had at least the front part of it sit on the roof before...no problems.
