Re: Air2air's Rear End

Just so everybody knows here I am trying to shake Jeshua unsuccessfully in Death Valley. He was tight on my tail and if I tried much harder they would be pulling me out of the canyon

Re: Air2air's Rear End

How come you went with a u-bolted yoke instead of a flanged pinion yoke?

Just curious.

Looks great btw.

Re: Air2air's Rear End

Sean I saw you were reading the thread, and I said "Oh crap. He is gonna ask me something I don't know".

So I am now going to google 'u-bolted yoke' and 'flanged pinion yoke' and come up with something to answer with so I don't look like a complete moron on my own thread.

So gimme a few minutes here....

If you look at this picture

and this one

you can see how the the yoke is attached with a little U-bolt

This one there is a flange coming off the yoke to attach to the third member.

Ok now make something up to tell us.

I'm guesing that's how they adapted the ford pinon to the toyota drive shaft.. but that's just my guess. Makes swapping a ujoint easier, but I'd rather have a flang for his use.

Actually David's comment rings a bell. That was one of the two reasons to get the new driveshaft; the other was length.
