Actually David's comment rings a bell. That was one of the two reasons to get the new driveshaft; the other was length.
If I remember right, that's the standerd for the fords.. so they built one end of the drive shaft to bolt up to the ford, and I bet there's a flang on the other end to connect to the toyota tranny. Otherwise they'd have to convert or adapt the ford end to a flang, and then you have a non-standerd part.

I was asking b/c the flanged one (and they do make them for 9") is IMO, a better set up as it better protects the ujoint caps as well as being a stronger connection with much larger bolts. They are usually a spendy option, but well worth it (again IMO) b/c of the protection they afford.
I doubt you'll have any problems with the ubolts....I ran them on the front of my D44 SAS converion on my 91 Toyota truck back before High Angle Driveline had a flange yoke for the D44 and D60. The ujoints, yoke and ubolts got pretty mangled on mine, but I never had the misfortune to break one (though I've seen many let go). Needless to say, when I did the D60s under the buggy, flanges from H.A.D. were one of the first things I bought.

Fisher I haven't been able to heavily wheel it for the last 6 months because of this rear end mystery. I've done occasional rare trips where I have to worry, and it just spoils the fun.
I will wheel the piss out of it now I can guarantee you that. I AM sick of building on it instead of wheeling it like everybody else. It is a lot more fun to be out there, than underneath it - so don't feel too jealous. Be glad that you are at least having fun with yours.
Sol is in the same situation too. There is an evil circle where you build one area up, and then the remaining areas need to build up also to keep pace. I am totally done after the 4-link.
Gotta say your making me think, may have to go back to Currie myself. I had decided on getting a diamond from brian that I could use my geared and locked diff that I have to save on money. But, never know.
Kinda weird we both have been plagued by problems with our 'rear'. Two bent axle housings so far for me and two blown diffs, once stock and once geared.
Right now Im waiting for a new housing from toyota to show up on monday and gonna put my stock spare diff in. wish me luck
I don't think that there is anything more to mod after this... you moded the crap out of you're FJ, you should be really proud to have (IMO) the best looking FJ in the forum. Congrats men, no mater what you do or don't do you will still have the hottest looking FJ around.
Air2Air's FJ should be the initial inductee into the FJ Hall of Fame!

I was kind of wondering the same thing? I know we have had better luck with the flange style setup.
