I'm looking over my pictures and realized how sucky they are. For someone who once was passionate about photography it's shameful. I WILL get better pics. Time to get out the tripod.
Josh, are you making the Grand Canyon expedition? I imagine there will be plenty of darkness.

I've recently did an expedition type of trip to the north side of Grand Canyon with a few friends. It has been a while since I've taken a longer trip in the FJ. We had planned to travel about 300 miles on dirt. It was close. I did 306. The AP swingout was great for the 10 extra gallon I needed. Fortunately I didn't need more fuel then 10 as I don't have a roof rack and had no place to store more then 10 gallons. I met up with Nevadesh, Spertierra, and Kokopli on Thursday night at the town of Mesquite. RadRod57 joined us on Friday. We made for Twin Points on Friday. It was a warm upper 90s as we started the day, but we were in good spirits.
We were fortunate to have Nevadesh as a guide. He really knows the area.

Eventually we headed east toward Waring ranch. Story has it the old couple stayed at the ranch by themselves until into the 90s. 2 plaques marked the spot where they were buried.
It's just a beautiful area. One can't help but wonder how the old couple lived there alone all those years-and who discovered them...

Sunday came up too quickly. I wasn't ready to leave! There's still so much to explore, but we only have so much gas. Time to say goodbye to Twin Points.
The obligatory "by the canyon's edge" shot. Gary put me way too close to th edge!
An old cabin just a bit off the side of the road.
Heading home. Going through Elbow Canyon.
Looking into the town of Mesquite-where we started the journey a few days ago.

Missed your last post Tony. And as you saw I didn't make the run. I was going to ride shotgun with Steve but ended up staying home. Really wish I could have made it though the pictures are amazing and it would have been cool to see your new HID 240's cut through the darkness in person, and I'm sure it was dark out there not much light pollution to be had there.

What a wonderful trip! The FJ performed flawlessly. I averaged 15 MPG. The All Pro swingout didn't rattle, the Lightforce lights also did great. I'll post a few more pics up at the upgrade thread.
I'm really glad to have made the trip. I was originally a bit leery of having to take care of the 2 kids by myself, but it turned out to be a trip that all of us will remember. Nothing bonds better then being packed together for hours and feeling stinky together .
