Thanks . Someday, I'd like to make a longer trip like the Alaska one you took a while back. I'm working on a functional roof rack and maybe a light trailer.

Missed your last post Tony. And as you saw I didn't make the run. I was going to ride shotgun with Steve but ended up staying home. Really wish I could have made it though the pictures are amazing and it would have been cool to see your new HID 240's cut through the darkness in person, and I'm sure it was dark out there not much light pollution to be had there.
Josh, it was the perfect weekend to be out. A lot of things happened that didn't show up in the pictures. A lot of things will probably not ever be discussed in public, but you should talk to Spert and Gary! OMG Gary!!!
The range on the HIDs were truely incredible. I aimed it at one of the closer canyon walls and it was able to reach it! I didn't have a pic of it as one of the trees nearby was throwing back reflection.
Will you be able to make Lower Larga Flats this weekend?

There were definitely wild horses. We saw some horses near the ranch and they were quite tame. They came right up to you and will probably beg for food if you're friendly. We saw 3 more horses at Elbow Canyon and they were gorgeous. Along with horses, we also saw bats, coyotes the size of German Shepards, deers, rabbits, and tons of cows. Not a single snake the whole trip-which is just fine by me!

Next time I'm around the camp fire with those two I'll have to get them to tell some story. Love traveling with Gary and Steve. I actually got a voicemail from Steve on Friday night telling me to starting driving its not to late.
On the AAT i'm going to talk to Doug and dave and see if I can meet up with one of them at Demello's and ride with them. The FJ is in no shape for the trail, one balled tire and a spare that has a huge cut in the tread that can't be repaired and a trash bag for a CV boot, and no skid plates. The truck still needs some work before I take it on the trail again. I'm going to start drawing up some new lower a-arms in solid works in the next couple weeks to replace the ones on now, and I just got new lighter spring (400lb) for the coil-overs that I need to put on and two bald tires from never getting it aligned.
My rigs are in bad shape.

Sorry about the FJ. Sounds like she really needs some TLC! Need a "will work for CV boot" sign. The trail we were on were pretty easy, but Steve did take a cut on the sidewall of his 3 week old MTZs. Fortunately, it was discovered when I was airing it up. Scary to think what would happen if it suddenly blew... All's well, he has warranty.
I think there will be no problems with you riding with anyone. Post up and see what they say.

Call it Stupidity...I call it Great. --> but unless you have done one of these things to or with your FJ...YOU WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND!!
So I've kind of ran out places nearby to wheel. I decided to head out a bit further and just explore. Randsburg is a small town about 60 miles North of Victorville. It's a 2 hour drive from my place so it's not too bad. It's a mining town with a lot of history. Take hwy 395 and head north. Past 4 corners (Kramer Junction), and its only 30 miles away. Atolia, Johannesburg, and Randsburg are historic mining towns.
The plan is to head into Randsburg and explore around a bit then check out Government Peak Trail and other places if I still have time. It was warm upper 90s, but in the FJ, it was comfortable. No traffic and it was a easy drive heading out.
Arriving at Randsburg
Wonder if this was a popular spot.
I think I saw 3 people the whole time I was there. I didn't get to check out the stores by foot, but that'll happen on my next trip!

I had lunch at the outskirts of the town. Had to look over my map and GPS a few times before finding the trailhead.
Take R40 until you see R30. Take a left and for most of the way, it'll be R30. There a radio tower high on the peak. If you keep your sight on that, you can't get lost. Eventually, you will wind your way to the top and beyond. The terrain isn't too difficult, but there are loose rocks and many off camber sections that have steep drops. Couple of blind crests were unnerving.
Not for those with fear of heights!
Yellow aster mine in the distance.

Take R30 to R77 and it'll take you back down the hill-on the other side. I guess I must have made a wrong turn as I ended up in someone's property... Fortunately, the gate wasn't close .
Little mine on the side of the road.

Government Peak was pretty short. Only 7 miles. I still had some time so decided to head over to Burro-Schmidt Tunnel Trail. It's a 12 mile drive further north. I did have to back track a bit. Consider this a prerun for the September trip to the area .
What a beautiful area. Burro-Schmidt is of a wide array of trails in the area. It connects to Last Chance Canyon. Opal Canyon and Nightmare Gulch are also very close by.
