Re: Fjamming's "Genie"

We spent the 2nd day up in Heavenly and also explored the SE corner of Lake Tahoe. The gondola ride up to Heavenly is just breathtaking.

On the SE corner, there's an area called Zephyr Cove. It's quaint little area that they can launch a ferry to Fennet Island. We got there in the late afternoon and just couldn't help but stop and explore.

Re: Fjamming's "Genie"

We returned the next day to explore that area again and let the kids play in the snow. What a beautiful area. Love that place!

Thanks to the norcal folks, I was able to find the eastern trailhead to the Rubicon Trail. Not that I actually would get on the trail, but I'd at least want to see it since I'm already here! Well, it's pretty much snowed in. Even the entrance to the staging area is blocked in by snow.

I hope to be able to do the trail later this year.

Re: Fjamming's "Genie"

The FJ was perfect for this trip. Our family of 4 had enough room for all our gears and the balance between economy and power was perfect. On the way back, we stopped by the capitol and also old town Sacramental. While at the capital, we were interviewd by Mike Luery. He asked what we thought about the IOUs that were about to be passed out to covered the deficiet. I was wearing my blue FJ Cruiser cap. I wonder if it aired.

What a great trip. Though very little off roading happened on this trip, I had a good appreciation of the FJ's on road manners. This is the first long trip that I had taken on the FJ and it was great!

Re: Fjamming's "Genie"

Thanks Vince. I actually really dreaded going back to work today. I'd rather be out and exploring!

Re: Fjamming's "Genie"

Awesome trip Tony. The Tahoe area looks beautiful, I hope I can spend some time up there one of these days.

Josh, maybe we can both make it up to Rubicon this summer.

That would be nice, I'll keep it in the back of my head.

Thanks. The whole time I was there I was wishing I had a better camera. The drive was actually really good. It wasn't as far as I thought it would be.

This latest SR22 land grab bill is so depressing. We lost a lot land for off road use (see land use forum). It was passed on a special Sunday session on a cloture vote (little debating and no chance of filibuster). Fortunately Diane Finestein wasn't able to get 6 million more acres... ok, I'm rambling and off topic.
