Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

Nice buildup, you didn't waste any time. The Cherry is looking sweet! Your thread can also serve as a good guideline for those that are torn between spacers/coilover lift, between step bars and real sliders. Looks like you've come to realize, if you off-road at all, save yourself time and money and get the suitable gear the first go around...even if it actually means spending more than you originally planned for.

You're a far better man than I -- for if I had recently installed a brand new Safari Snorkel...

AND, if I had been THAT close -- to THAT pond...

I could NOT have helped myself!!

:-)

You've done a great job with your B/C!!

Happy Trails...

Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

I have had my stock tires/wheels back on for about two weeks now. Although it has taken some time getting use to it, I am welcoming the increase in MPG's. I have gone from a constant 14-15 mpg to 18.2, 18.8, 19.97 and 19.1 mpg. My driving habits have not changed at all. I am squeezing another 50-75 miles out of each tank which is the same as $$$ in the pocket. I will continue to roll on these until the next wheeling trip which is scheduled Sept 19th & 20th.

Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

Stock tires/wheels continue to give me improved mpg's, but they had to come off for the July M&G. In the last week I added the factory Sirius radio stuff to the FJammer, blacked out the side mirrors and installed the black Tundra door handles.

Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

After seeing this rig in person I have to say it is a beast. So aggressive and mean looking. It looks like it's going to jump out and pound you into the ground. Great job Steve. What's next? If your wife will let you....

Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

I was experiencing some cracking in the side of my Swampers. It was determined that either the sidewalls were failing or the 285's were not quite big enough for the 9" wheels. In either case they were replaced under warranty and I went to a 305. Now that I had a slightly larger tire the Swamper lugs looked like they might rub the fender flares if fully stuffed. Ahh shucks, I was forced into buy Bushwacker flares to obtain more clearance. Here is a pic with the new flares and Swampers. Note that we had to trim around the snorkel. That was not fun.
