WILSON's (aka FJinDFW) Hand Picked Cherry

We purchased our Black Cherry FJ with the intentions of it being just my new daily driver. I wanted the Sun Fusion, but the wife was dead set against it. The Black Cherry was second choice, but had I known the FJ was going to find itself off the pavement, on the trails and in the trees, I might have gone with silver. In any case here is our picture story as it has progressed.

Hand picked out of the crop...
Before:

After currrent mods:

The first mod was a factory roof rack...

Followed by a level lift from extremetrucktoys.com

The factory installed Duncraps were an insult to the FJ. New shoes (Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/70/17) were a must and threw on a couple of Pro Comp lights to the brush guard...

I liked the look of the predator step bars and purchased them from a fellow forum member.

Picked up a SFX lightbar from another forum member who had won it at the Summit. Maybe one of these days I will get power to the lights (Lights work now and IPF's will be added when they release the stone guard to match the front 900XS's).

After our first group run at the Coon Creek Crawl, we learned the importance of having a CB radio. Found a diamond plate case that sorta matched the dash...

Looks are one thing, but quickly learned that the predator step bars did little to protect the body panels from the rocks and other obsticles while off-roading. Yes, off-roading. So much for staying on pavement. Met a great group of local 4 wheelers, Toyota Trail Riders - Get Out and Explore., and began learning how to wheel. Off with the step bars and replaced them with the factory rock rails.

Although I was happy with the level lift, I decided on a little more clearance by installing a Rough Country 3" lift and mounted a HiLift jack on he back of the roof rack...

Dang it! I forgot to take a pic of the Demello Sliders, but here is a before and after of the body mount chop done by Rock Tech in Grapevine. As requested I will get his contact info and post later today or tonight.

Before

After. I will take a closer side view later so that you can see the quality of his work.

By the luck of the draw, literally, I was the lucky winner of a set of Demello sliders at the Lonestar Toyota Jamboree. Pics finally...

MODS: All Pro front bumper with custom bottle opener, ARB rear bumper, Warn M8000 winch w/synthetic fireline, snorkel, Camburg adjustable coilovers, Camburg UCA's, 16" aftermarket wheels wrapped by 35" Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's, a passenger side armrest (that should have been stock), OEM Sirius radio stuff, blacked out mirrors and replaced silver handles with the black Tundra's, Bushwacker flares, ARB Roof Rack, Bud Built full skids, VisionX rock lights, Tuffy Security locking center console, ICON rear shocks, OME 896 rear springs and Metal Tech Tube Doors.
And the mandatory OUTRIDER SUSPENSION ARMOR all around.

Sweet...the black cherry is a collectors item. Definately like the Nitto's. Great job and nice post.

Where did you have the body mount chop done? I'm thinking about having that done also.

RockTech in Grapevine. I added before and after pics in original post. I will post his number later today or tonight. Does GREAT work and he is a very nice guy. VERY clean job and I highly recommend him. Well worth the drive from Stephenville. His current price is $165 cash out the door. No credit cards accepted. Allow about 2 1/2 - 3 hours for him to do the work. Most of that is cool down periods before reinstalling the rubber bushings.

Re: FJinDFW's hand picked cherry

Excellent!

That's funny, too... I had Sun Fusion as my top pic but the girlie like the BC. Turned out the best available truck (i.e. what I wanted) was BC so I said screw it and just went with that. SOoooooo glad I did, I love BC!!!
