DominicG's Voodoo Death - Redux

Bought it July 21, 2006. Currently 20,502 miles on the odo, and its my daily driver (yeah, i don't drive far, work is 1 mile away, college is 5 miles away).

Brand Spankin New!

It has a few names.. Norma, The Bumwagen, and the Bargain Cruiser. Ignore the Voodoo Death thread title, its just my attention grabbing method.

The reason behind the names:
Norma, because my snorkel said so. The Bumwagen, because some of the fellow SoCal'ers dubbed me the bum since i used to camp in a shack and used newspapers as a blanket (they do work). And the Bargain Cruiser because my FJ is built up of many, many a used parts.

Originally, when i began adding mods, i was just getting them to get them with no real direction (crawler, go-fast desert truck, or expedition). Over the last few months i have figured out what i want, and Expedition style rig, with stock like appearance. It is slowly coming together, paycheck by paycheck. Maybe by 2009, when i finally have a fulltime job, It will join the ranks of the Scorpion, The Über FJ, and the like.

The Driver:

I can't say i'm your average 20 year old, but, what else is there to say?? When i comes down to it, I go to college and work, and I just wanna have fun.

A special thanks to the members i have bought used parts from:

RicoVerde: Bandi mount (new actually)
TCao: Sliders (Thanks Bud!!)
Lifeoffroad03: OME rear shocks
Wrigman: OME 885 springs
Air2air: Warn M8000 w/ kevlar line (Dude My FJ is part-uber now )
A member whos name i forget: TRD CAI
Sparman: Set of stock stealies
VooDooRocky: Donahoes!
I'm sure there is more...

Re: DominicG's Voodoo Death - Redux

Suspension/Shoes:

I bought 4 new 285/70/17 BFG A/T KO's for $400. Deal! Mounted them to the stock Alloys, then ended up with a killer deal on a set of 5 stock stealies.

The lift started out with a 3" spacer up front, and OME lift springs in back. I eventually put some OME shocks in the back to replace the to short stockers. About 10 months later i finally got around to replacing the HORRIBLE spacers. OME N140s shocks and 885 springs went in, lasted for about 600 miles, and blew one shock. Currently saving for some Icon's or Radflo's (can't decide).

Spacered:

OME'd:

Armor:

Well, funny story actually.. I at the moment has less armor than a stock of FJ. I destroyed the stock skidplate, and it is no longer mounted. More protection is next on the list (the whole shabang).

I got an awesome deal on the stock sliders from TCao . So, my sliders have more miles, and have been used more time than my rig has probably seen the dirt.

And the only other piece of Armor i have, are the Overland XT (cowboy 4x4) Lower Shock guards.

UPDATE 4-19

Recovery:

Lucrum Winch Mount w/ light bar and D-ring Tabs

WARN M8000 Winch w/ Amsteel Kevlar Winch Line

Hi-Lift Jack w/ WabFab Slider Adapter.

Hitch reciever w/ smittybuilt 3/4 shackle.

AAA Card.

Aluminum Hawse (sp?) fairlead

Camping gear/Utility:

ARB Touring Rack and Touring Tent - I'm that cool..

Re: DominicG's Voodoo Death - Redux

Performance:

TRD Cold Air Intake
- I love it.

(l;anguage NSFW)

ARB Safari Snorkel - The one true thing to make Any rig expedition worthy. Drilling the wholes for it was definitely an adventure.

Scanguage II:

I love this little toy to.. has saved me from pushing my truck to the gas station a number of times

In the future:

URD Y-pipe, and maybe.. just maybe, Doug Thorley's.
