FJ Cruiser Log Book First Entry :STARDATE 5.13.2008
Shrouded in Mistery in a FJ Galaxy Far Far Away ...Ok Oregon to be exact There lived a Guy and He loved Racing on the Dunes. What was missing in this mans life was an awesome quad trailer tow vehicle that could also be a source of Some Major Duning 4xing FUN.
One Hapless day I saw a new FJ at the dealership (McMinnville Toyota Rocks!!!) and it was love at first site.I knew the vehicle would be my next Obsessive Compulsive Disorder project waiting to Happen.
So got a smokin deal on the FJ and began the build. Spent weeks on line and settled on Demello Offroad for the source of most of my liquid cash eliminating mods. So I drove ,yes drove, to Demello some 1100 miles south. Of course i drove my wifes rig ...sheez my FJ was brand new and still is 6 months later has less than 2k miles on it. Must have new car smell till its done then i'll beat it like a rented mule.
So Demello was cool showed me all over his shop and all of his mods on his Black FJ. ***KIM ,JASON and JACK were great to deal with*** ...especially since i'm a high maintenance customer ...very needy. I went to ICON (only a mile away ) and was shown around there to. Back to DEMELLO OFFROAD ... these guys are great good stuuf at good prices and free advise for the newbs. But the coolest thing happened while i was there AIR to Air showed up my dream FJ. It was awesome i crawled through, over, in, and under it. Todd was supercool until he made me wipe all my slober off his rig. He even offered me a chance to drive it but i didnt want to lapse into an OFFROAD FURY 4 trance in a 110k rig so i took a raincheck. Great intro into FJing folks though.
Jason and crew hooked me up with an ICON 3" stage 2 kit which includes-front coil overs, rear springs, shocks and ICON's awesome Upper Control Arms we also added the sweet ICON trailing Arms. Jason also Hooked me up with a Prerunner front bumper (still unmounted and unpainted) and a front skid Plate.
The Demello Bumper will be equiped with a new 8k Warn thanks to FJOELs Group winch buy ...TY.
After returning to Oregon I Installed the lift and Added Bushwacker Fender Flares, And some 33"x12.5"x20" TOYO Mt rubber i already owned -on ARE Punishers Black chrome rims
(plan on changing to 17" Beadlocks soon though).
I have just finished installing a K&N air filter system, a kickazz stereo using the stock deck which rocks! and a cutom painted Bezel,Grill,Turn signals and AEROFLO headlight covers.
For Trailer towing I ordered a custom set of Firestone AirRide bags to fit inside the Icon rear springs this works great. Levels the rig when towing and doesnt affect the ride when not in use and uninflated.
After driving all the way to Corona to see the DO guys I returnrd to find out Metal Tech (whose rear tube bumper was my choice to match my DO PR front) is only 10 miles away from my house. Crazy ... anyway went over and met Mark and Lt Last week (they were very cool)and am schduled next week for a custom rear bumper which will protect my Fender Flares. Thats About it for now Thanks for Reading- Please dont sugar coat your feedback ...I cant decide wether to paint my front and rear tube bumpers WHITE or BLACK and would appreciate your input...
