I bought the FATMAT audio dampening (same basic stuff as dynamat) and it was a real project, but in the end it was SO worth it. Once the smell dies down anyway.
I.really wanted the secongd skin damplifier pro but shipping killed the deal. I ended up ordering 36sq feet of dynamat from amazon for 135 shipped. I wanted to just test all of this first. I will need a lot more to finish. I also plan to add another layer of padding to go over the dynamat. No smell with it either

Nice build up. It will never be done
I had a red 88 YJ back in the day. My GF (now wife) didn't like driving
around in it - too hard to get into and out of. I sold it and always
regretted it. Like you I got a fj to replace her and I couldn't be happier.

Looking forward to seeing more of your buildup!

Gery
it was a fun little car butnothing compared with the FJ! Selling it did get me the rack and lights

That sounds like a decent price anyway. I can't remember how much I ordered, but I still have a good bit left. I didnt do the roof. Got tired of it after doing all the panels. The stuff said "and no smell like other brands". Well, maybe these guys are immune to it, but it only lasted a couple hot summer days, then it was gone. Be patient and take your time, it can be fun.

Re: DoWork's "Big Black" FJ

Its a fun project but just very time consuming. It took about 3 hours per door. I have a couple pieces of dynamat left so I think I will put a layer under the headboard above my head to see if its worth while to do the whole roof.

So is the general consenus on the sound dampening that it is totally worth it? I haven't thought about it that much, but after adding leather, i saw that it wasn't that hard to remove all the flooring.

It is worth it if you do the entire car. Since the doors were done my speakers sound better however their is still alot of sound. The roof rack is the main problem so the roof will need to be done. Its a really big job so im going to do it in stages. In 2 weeks I will do the roof and report back. I think its a worth while investment.
