I just installed a set of Trail Gears on my step dad's FJ last week! I was a little nervous about swapping the brake line brackets out, but actually doing it was cake!

Looks good, now you just need to drive down to Texas so I can see them
Are you going to Summit? Nice deal on some stock sliders @ $150.00 too
Yeah, when I got under there, saw the bracket & how the brake line was in the way I was like "great!" but it wasn't a big deal at all. I swapped them & just got gave the line some extra cushion on the back end for where it rests on the bracket.

Unfortunately I won't be driving to Texas anytime soon but I do aim to get off of LI and go somewhere with some trails this spring/summer. I would like to get my lift & tires done before that happens. I'm going to stick to beach riding for now.

You better be at Summit, that's my final words to you until Summit!

I got it done in Patchogue for about $400 & change @ Nolans. I don't want to say its the best paint job in the world but for the money I wanted to spend, I am more than pleased. The color is perfect which was my main concern. The next closest quote I got was double that & most were even more.

I just figured out what summit even is!
I doubt I can pull that off this year but I will make it a point to next year.

Re: My budding love affair

Did they paint it inside as well (i.e. when you open the rear and the doors, you see the white roof)?

Looking good. I really like your black roof. Can't wait to see it with the lift & tires.

Thanks. Hopefully I should have wheels by the end of the week & I'm scheduling the sunroof & lift right for after. I tried to wait on the lift but it just didn't work. Probably going to wait on tires for the time being. I just realized the dealer gave me 4 new and left me a half used up spare. One of them actually has a different tread pattern. Wish I realized this stuff at the time I got it but I wasn't concentrating on the tires.

Re: My budding love affair

Alrighty....

Got my 8089 Pro Comps, TG sliders, Hollandia 790 sunroof & a shave of the shifter.

RC 3" lift hopefully within a week.

Then it will be just little stuff for a while & getting into some DIYS trouble on the interior.

I've been set on a sunroof for a while but it wasn't until the first hot & sunny day this year where I realized that I absolutely HAD to have it. I can't believe how dark, stale & stuffy the interior can be on the inside on a nice day. It was depressing!
I'm one of those people that like to drive with my windows down until I'm really, really hot, AC only if I have to.
What a difference this makes. I highly recommend it....pluuus I had them put in another interior light in the front to make up for the missing map light, total bonus!

Another absolute must is cutting down that overgrown shifter.
Now with my hand resting from my leg, I can easily reach over to the passenger side without having to worry about doing neutral drops. The size of that thing makes no sense whatsoever.

There are many other wheels out there that I like but I'm not about to drop $200/each on them & I decided against new tires once I realized how much tread I have left...so that limited my options somewhat. Some days I dug the look of the stock alloys but somedays it just looked a little cheesy to me & I just didn't feel like having it bother me until I was ready to get tires.
I got these at about $110 each with free shipping.
I couldnt find anything I liked even close to a deal like this so 8089s it was.

Getting wheels also saved me from wanting to get a spare tire cover.
It looks so much better back there now.
