The FJBetty Build... blood, sweat, and paychecks

I bought my 4x4 AT Black Diamond in the fall of '07 with the intent of turning her in too an expedition, travel, and go anywhere rig. While it's been a lot of trial and error (or trail and error) as far as finding the right set up, I'm pleased with her ever evolving progress.

The mods so far:

Exterior protection
Expedition one front bumper
Superwinch epi.9 with synthetic line with safety thimble
All-Pro rock sliders
Bud Built full skids

Suspention and drivetrain
OME Heavy Duty
All-pro Lower rear links
All-pro lower rear link upper mount skids
Man-a-fre lower rear shock mounts
All-pro Heavy duty Steering kit
Extended steel brake line
Body mount chop
Scuba modscuba mod

OME medium coils in the mail (heavy is just to ridged, without enough flex)

Tires and wheels
Stock alloys painted black the how to paint your wheels thread
American Racing Victor teflon wheels
Cooper Discoverer STT Mud terrain 285/70/17
Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/17

Cargo and such
ARB full roof rack with Yakima raptor bike carriers (2)
Fourtreks Hi-lift jack mounts
Spare tire Blitz gas can carrier (modified to include back up light)
Bass pro shop and trail teams duffels for recovery gear, tools and parts
Wilderness first aid kit
Currently designing cargo box system for rear.

Interior, stereo, and communications
Wet Okole seat covers (grey and black)
hardwired Garmin GPS mount
Cobra 75 WX CB with Bandi mount http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...t-install.html
infinity Reference 6x9 with custom made mounts (front doors)
Cellular range extender in the mail
Roundeyes dome light LED kit in the mail

Lighting

IPF Back up lights

There will be more.......

Re: The FJBetty Build... blood, sweat, and paychecks

Ok, Pictures..

Here's a picture from her maiden voyage. I vowed that day to never have to go get the tractor to pull me out again.

I litterally started the mods, the day I bought her.
Added a yakima cross bar set up, and PIAA fog lights

Next I added Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks up front, and Bilstein extended lenght shocks, and Toytec coils in the rear. Also extended brake lines.

While this set up provided great flex, and incredible on and off road ride quality, it also allowed brake dive, body roll and as I knew I intended to add a great deal of weight (bumpers, cargo and skids) I knew It wouldn't work.

I then added the roof rack

Then one day on a trail I got hung up on a tree and pulled a tail light assembly off (do you like the band aid?)

So I bought these

Next was Bumper. I researched and researched. read and reread thread. Compared and took notes. I always liked the expedition one design, and when I saw one in person (the guy I bought my American racing wheels from) That sealed the deal. I Love this bumper.

Re: The FJBetty Build... blood, sweat, and paychecks

Here is the jerry can holder; I removed the lower screw that stabilizes against the tire, and replaced with another that I could also use to mount a light. I cut the screw to length and found a rubber cap (to protect tire) at the hardware store

Bandi mount and 4wd badging from a 60 series LC

Here is what I did for the GPS, The wire runs down the pillar, through the dash and connect directly into the 12v system

I'll finish later...

Thanks for looking
