Well I got bored and decided to splurge. I've been doing a lot of research on lift kits and wheels and decided I was ready to make a commitment. This is my first time modifying a truck. Truth is, till now I've been ripping and rebuilding my VW Karmann ghia, which is like a lego set compared to this . So If anyone disagrees with my decision for lift, tires, and wheels please let me know. Any advice will be appreciated .
Well, here's what i went with. First I found a good deal on 5 BF Goodrich LT285/70R17. Which I believe should be 33" Mud Terrain Tires
My FJ is still stock, so if figured, until I get a lift, If I cant fit 33" under my rig why not fit them in it? Here's my new tires and wheels after picking them up from "4 wheel parts" in Modesto, CA.
I also got 5 Pro Comp 17" black wheels with flat black center caps. (why flat black center caps, Well, Pro Comp doesn't make gloss black center caps). To tell you the truth I'm a little worried the flat black wont go with the gloss to well
I LOVE THESE WHEELS!
Oh, yeah, I also picked up a set of Gorilla locking lug nuts for the wheels. They are Chrome, but I'm planning on scuffing them up and painting them flat black to match the center cap.
Well, here's my entire purchase from 4 Wheel Parts.
And my storage for the tires
Well, after starring at my tires for 2 days I decided I couldnt wait any longer and I had to get my Lift A.S.A.P.! So I searched the net and found the best deal at KLM Performance.
I dropped KLM Performance an email and within and hour I received a phone call from Robert asking if he could help me out. I strongly recommend if your decided to buy from KLM to give them a phone call instead of writing an email. All the guys all extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and are willing to bend backwards just to help you out. Even after some bank trouble with MY bank the guys at KLM patiently reworked things to allow for an easy transaction. The order was put in on Friday, and the lift arrived on Monday. Great Service and shipping, that I strongly recommend!!
Well what lift did I decide to go with you ask?? The ICON IVD Stage 2 of course.
And here's what I got in the mail....
A TOTAL PACKAGE
IVD Coated adjustable coil over shocks
Rear Coil Springs
Rear Shocks
And, Billet Upper Control Arms
Gorgeous!!!
Packaged by WHO??
I wonder if this is the same "Icon Mike" on this forum
Well, bottom story is...... This is what I have,
And this is what I'm hoping for!
Haha , well I think thats enough for know. Now to see if I can slap this lift on as a one man job!! If you don't see any follow up pics in a week or two.... R.I.P. . Take care guys, and girls, and thanks for stopping by to check out my little page
I believe it's recommended to do a max of 2.5" only if you're running stock UCA's. So since Im upgrading to Icons UCA's which allow for extended travel I'm planning on going the full 3" or 3.5" as long as it's safe. Still have to do a little more reading on the subject of adjusting your icon's the full 3.5"

I'm running stock UCAs, I hope I upgrade them to ICONs in the future. The BFGs I ordered are 285/75/16, so I will adjust the front C/O to 2.5" as recommended, I hope they dont rub!
You will definitely fall in love more with your FJ after the lift
Thanks Guys, I love my FJ ! I'm honestly more into classic cars, but the FJ was the first newer vehicle to catch my eye. So, I had to get it. I cant wait for the weekend, I'm going to try to install my lift then. But I just got a call to do some work Sat. morning. So we'll see if I can make the time. If I do I promise I'll post more pics.
By the way, Is anybody going to the FJ Summit in Colorado Springs in July. I'm thinking of driving out there from California to see what its all about. If so, What should I bring?? Toilet paper, sleeping bags, porta-shower, etc. I've never gone so I'm not quite sure what to expect. I'm heading over to the website right now to try and get some kind of clue
