Re: Mtbcoach's "Lvnstrong" build...

I go to school with your daughter and I have to say I'm extremely jealous of all 3 rigs.

The '71 FJ40 is definitely the most bad ass, but that FJ is sick

Thanks, no need for jealousy. All it takes is a bit of researching and 25% of what most of the cars in the school parking lot are worth and you could have one also...

Oh I know what you mean, its disgusting how nice of cars people drive here. I'm jealous because of how capable all your vehicles are, I drive a 2000 CR-V AWD with bigger tires and roof lights. Its fun for trails that don't involve large rocks and ruts deeper than a foot or 2 but its cheap and reliable. The price I paid for it is probably less than the tax the parents of the E class, 5 Series and A6 drivers had to pay.

In this pic, it seems that the gap between the Demello and your rear door isn't body colored like all of the other rigs I've seen running the Demello rear. Did you paint the body here?

Yes I did. After I put it on for the first test fit, I just didn't like it being yellow, it highlighted the gap. With the black plastic on the door and the black bumper, it made sense to me to help eliminate the focus of the gap, being bright yellow, surrounded by black on both sides...

Re: Mtbcoach's "Lvnstrong" build...

Front end upgrades...

I finally got around to upgrading my front end components. I've been doing fine with the stock UCA's but got a good deal on some Total Chaos UCA's from a member who had them rebuilt. I also got a deal on the All-Pro HD steering links, so that went on the install list as did a set of the Total Chaos weld on spindle gussets. Lastly, I ponied up for the RCV "Ultimate CV axle" for the FJC. I had been carrying around a brand new CV as a spare and bought another new one to send in for the upgrade. Yes, its an expensive venture and I have some concerns. If these are as strong as they claim, what will be the next weak link to be exposed along the chain in the front drivetrain.

Oh well, we will see. Here are the pics...

Here are the CV axles side by side, stock and the RCV upgraded units. With this upgrade, no longer would one need to pull the CV axle if a boot needed to be replaced, the inner stays in place and one just removes the allen head bolts to remove/service the inner CV...

Total Chaos UCA's, with them pre-rubbed so I don't have to ruin the paint job...

Weld on spindle gussets and HD steering links...

Next up, home made beadlock wheels...

Haha just kidding. Hope I get to come down your way again sometime. I'm sure we'll meet on the trails again unless you sell it.

Oh you just see so many good people go over the times that you never know.

I didn't even noticed when you changed to ICONs. Had to look back through the thread. Next summer I need to plan a big trip. If you're going anywhere far let me know. I got some Treadwrights donated for a review and need to beat them up in every way possible.
