Yep, same here! Not a scratch on my 2008's factory skids when I bought it last year with 60K miles. Looked brand new underneath.

One thing that I would invest in is a decent compressor. Airing down to 18psi when off road makes all the difference, especially with street tires. I spent a few extra bucks for the fast and powerful Viair 400P ($160) and glad I did every time I go out.

    Hi Matt!

IMHO, stock is very OK to start! Don't forget that in 2006 Trail Teams ran the then-new FJ Cruiser successfully through Moab and Rubicon bone stock AND with OEM tires!

The only mods so far on my 2008 are Ricochet armor and AllPro sliders. I do not plan on getting a lift as it screws up CV joint angles and overstresses them. I am very much into reliability out on the trail.

Don't be pressured to dump money on mods. Get to know your vehicle first, and discover what wheeling terrain you enjoy. Then decide what would give you the best bang for the buck.

In the last six months that I've had the FJ, I've done most of Mojave Road and MNP, some Calico mountains, and nearly every trail in the ElPaso's--all solo and mechanically stock. Been out about 20 times.

Have you taken yours out anywhere? What year? Off-road package (Rear locker)? Any pics?
