Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20
Well, I had a good time (for the hour I was there), but with those crap Dunlops, I felt like I was driving on maynaise. I need to get my rig outfitted with some real tires and Atrac, and I'll try and be back out.
When I couldn't even get it straight (mud wouldn't shed the tires,) down that first little hill, I had to swallow my pride and save it for another (better equipped) day.
Borderline embarrassing, but the upside is I have some real motivation to put some meats and Atrac on this thing.
Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20
Thought I'd post a few of the pictures that I did get (during my short stay).
Check out those dunlops! That was before we even hit the mud. I don't know how anyone can ice skate through on the stock stuff. More money or more guts than I have.
Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20
I had a great time, meeting everyone and hiting the mud. Thanks to the Trail Team and leaders for helping me through the stuff that made me cringe. Can any one tell me what the trails were that Tom lead?
Stock FJ, to include wheels and no damage, is a testament to those that helped out. My kid never had been off road and had a blast riding and watching. Thanks to Racedirt1 for leading the way from lake county, Phil64, Larry, and all others from the forum for the good times. Hope to be let out of my cage soon again...

I had a great time meeting new people and seeing some old friends. It was a blast being out on such a great day. Thanks to the trail leaders and the Trail Team for such great direction and advice on the tricky spots.
Phil the skid plates are waiting for you when you want them.

Tip of my hat to 4Rnr, Gumby, Tom from TNT-4x4.com / The Cliff's, Rod and the Toyota Trail Teams, and the horde of FJ'ers who came out to play. We couldn't have asked for a better day!
Clarence it is always good to see you and I love your FJ! We'll chat soon and I'll liberate those skids from your garage very soon! Chitown (aka Jimmy Olsen), GoISU, and myself took off on our own paths for the second run. From what I gather, the larger group had another good run. There were some folks that got decently stuck on some rather technical path's but everyone came out unscathed!
Gumby loaned out his Bronco and the poor trans didn't make it. My apologies for putting the "zotz" on your trans Todd! You have to pass the curse on to somebody else now!
I did more wheeling that pic taking so I don't have too many shots but here's some that are fit to print!
A reverse groups shot
I caught this FJ trying to pounce upon a passerby.
I promised Kevin his "pimp shot"!
Then of course I had a little case of "brain cramps" and decided to play a bit.
