Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20

Nice pics Phil! I had a blast running with you and ChiTown. Fun in the muck and those pictures of you on the big tires don't do it justice, that was high! We should have taken a pic of where your exhaust started to melt the side wall when you were hung up there, hillarious. I can't wait to see the pics Joe took along woth the video. Another successfull outing at the Cliffs, maybe the most successfull ever for me...as of now (haven't washed the FJ yet) I don't think I even pin striped my rig, a first for the Cliffs. Those trails were in the best shape I have ever seen and we had some great trail leaders (including Joe!). Overall a great experience, if you missed this one you missed out. Let's see those pics and vids!!!

I thought I smelled something burning! I couldn't tell if it was my arse or something else!

<------------Notice the "new" avatar!!!

I'm still cracking up over that! I'm such a doofus!

I had a gas running with you and Joe! You're both excellent trail mates and tons of fun to be with! Next time we have to find Trail #10 and have at it! I was quite impressed with your Bridgestone street tires handling the way they did! Imagine what bigger meats would do for you!

Start checking your schedule for The Badlands the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm putting in for a pass from the "Warden" already!

Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20

We had a great time at The Cliffs today! We were in the small group that started out on trail 10. Whoever said this trail would be easy like a slot car track with no risk has a completely different definition of "easy" than I! Traction wasn't a issue this time, but pysically fitting my rig between/over large rocks/tree stumps was a challenge. All of my armor (bumper/skids/sliders) took a serious beating with nice gouges left over to prove it. A HUGE thanks to John for some excellent spotting in the tougher spots! I made it through with no damage besides the proud scuffs on the armor.

Thanks also to the Toyota FJC Trail Team for attending this event. Too bad I didn't get to wheel in your group this time. Also enjoyed meeting some new people and seeing some familiar faces.

I'll post pics later. My buddy got some great action shots, but I have to wait for him to email them.

So when are we running again?!

Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20

I had a blast! For the first time out, the FJ handled awesome. A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped spot as well as the FJ trail team. This was so much fun that I already cant wait to go again! Well worth the three hour drive there and another 3 hours back. We just got home by the way. I saw the pics up. I have a bunch. As soon as Connie shows me how to use the camera with the computer, I will get them up. (Can you tell who normally does this stuff?)

Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20

Hey guys. I'm Tim, some of you might remember me from the other day. It was a blast running with you guys and I'm looking forward to seeing the pics/vids that were taken.

I was pretty impressed that those of you even with highway tires got to have a good time and didn't end up too hung up.

Those of you that don't remember talking to me probably remember seeing my tube thing out on the trail.

Re: FJ cruiser trail team @ The Cliffs, IL. October 20

Nice Avatar Phil! Had a great time at the Cliffs...about time I meet some of you locals...very impressed with the FJC...I think I need new tires though. I was amazed I made it through after the very first mud pit, nothing like getting sideways...have to thank the trail team for thier assistance. what a bunch of great guys... I have a few shots of Todd showing the field repair 101 on his rear tire! I'll see if I can post the pics. Anyway I am off on the 17th of Nov. for the badlands. Would be nice to get a group together.

Brian

I have to agree about the tight spots. I am so glad I had sliders and heavy skid plates. After washing my truck I found some great scuffs on both sliders and on my rt rear wheel trim. I was amazed how tight some of those spots were. There were a few times I did not think the white Land Cruiser or the Bronco would fit.
I had such a great time out there. Great spotters great people and a perfect day. It was great hanging out with all of you and I can't wait to do it again.
