Where to get a chop in Chicagoland?

Common thread question (maybe a thread with a midwest off-road shop directory would be a good idea) , but I haven't come up with a good place to do a chop and box in the area (60 miles any direction from Aurora).

Im ordering a sway-away lift this week, and my next step will be new rubber, but I'd like to do pre-emptive surgery first.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Where to get a chop in Chicagoland?

I have a grinder, 3/16th's steel, Lincoln welder, and Krylon. What I need in return is an extra pair of hands when I do my lift. Feel like getting dirty?

The other way to go would to be get in touch with Tom the Trail Leader at the Cliff's TNT 4X4 His shop is in the new main building at the Cliff's. I also know that CRed had his done by a shop near Joliet.

Re: Where to get a chop in Chicagoland?

My lift should be in by the end of the month. Anytime after that is fine by me. I'll give you a firm date after I get my lift.

If we get a few folks together we can do this as a "Tech Day/Meet and Greet". We can do installs/mods on each others rides. I'll post this as a separate thread so we can find out who else would be interested.

Re: Where to get a chop in Chicagoland?

Wow Brian! Don't Believe in giving a man a "reach around"? LOL That's just wrong!

I'm looking to do this in a "Tech Day" if need be. A few of us can get a few things done for each other that way. It's not like we're going to restore an FJ 40 or anything. LOL (I am jealous as hell!)

Hey Joe where is your buddy's shop? 5000 BLk of Elston is 5 minutes from me!
