I am starting to see alot of post about Toyota dealers turning away FJ owners that have mods. I alos read you basicly have to find a Wheeler friendly dealership. Like iu have mentioned before The Dealer in Janesville HESSER toyota will not touch our truck... "we drive ours to hard" and they also know that Chris owns his own shop. "he can do that cant he" Did i have 12,000 miles and S##t is not working right and they wont touch our Truck Not even a pully that was Spinning grease out of the SEALED bearing! We bought Our FJ TO WHEEL. EXACTLY WHAT IT IS PROMOTATED AS..... So answer me this We put it in 27 inches of water ( what the book that the trail team and dealer give out that TELL YOU IT CAN DO THAT) and take out all 3 pullies at the same time and they tell us its our error and we need to pay for it? We have the bulges starting in the front and they tell us oh its your allpro bumper you have installed BUT.... ITS MOUNTED TO THE FRICKING FRAME! and theres the Stock ALLLLLLL STOCK FJs that have the same problem HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
So i was just wondering If theres any dealerships around any of you that are Wheeler friendly. maybe a dealership that doesnt know the name TEAM DIGGER...lol
I hate dealerships. NOONE knows less about a vehicle than the dealership selling them. Everytime I drive up to the toyota dealership in my old 88 4runner (DD) I get some fat greasy salesman looking down his nose at me like as though I dont have the right to be on his lot!! In reality Im probably responsible for more toyota sales than he is!
Charity start beefing to the Regional Offices about this! The bulges are a warranty issue. The pulleys are a warranty issue. Tell them that Hesser is not honoring it in any fashion! Time to light a few fires!
I was wondering about this same thing when I was buying my FJ. To be honest, most of the people at the local dealerships that you talk to just have no idea about off roading. The funny thing when i bought mine was I knew more about the FJ than anyone at my dealership except one of the service techs that has one ( he also has an FJ-40 he's working on). Bottom line is that the dealerships I talked to including the one I bought from, simply won't want to fix anything for you unless they have to. I'm trying not to pass judgement on my dealership ( Maplewood Toyota) till I know for sure. The guys in the local TLCA chapter have good things to say about them, but you never know till you test it.
That is too bad. I took my FJC into Libertyville, and one of the managers asked that I bring in with more mud next time I come in. This was after the Cliffs. Now you have me thinking, did he say that so he could void my warranty? Or because he enjoys seeing the FJ used as intended... I'll ask next time I am there, with lots of off-road eveidence.
