I personally prefer the skiing at Nubs Nob (best hill in the lower peninsula in my opinion) but I am willing to make the 3 hour trek south to the flint area. Also my selfish option would be Treetops in Gaylord, but thats just because I live 5 minutes from there and my wife and I have season passes. Just throwing it out there...
Anyways... Unless we hear overwhelming suggestions to the contrary, lets throw out February 9th 2008 (Saturday) at Mt Brighton as our tenative date and location for the Ski Get together. I am guessing there won't be much wheeling going on, but it would be nice to meet some people, have some fun on the slopes, and then I can pester you all to death with my newbie questions.
MI FJ, love your avatar by the way, greatest bridge on earth. I will be in the Auburn Hills/Detroit area the weekend of December 7th through the 9th. (my wife and I have tickets to the Wings/Coyotes game AND the Lions/Cowboys game) We weren't planning on driving the FJ down, but if there is going to be a get-together, we might bring that down instead. I would like to run a few trails, as long as they are bunny slopes. Did I mention I was a newb?
Thanks to everyone for getting as excited about meeting as I am!
Oh yea... Apparently you can reserve a campsite at Silver Lake State park anytime online...
Just Select Silver Lake from the pull down and go from there. This is one of the most popular campsites in Michigan and it fills up fast, although it probably wont be too full that early in the year. We might still have snow in April... But the info is there just in case some of you wanted to make a weekend out of it!

Artemus,
Where are you guys staying when you're here? We live so close to where you'll be...care to grab a frosty beverage or a coffee while you're in town? Drop me a PM and let me know. We're always up for meeting a fellow FJ fan.
There's really no place to wheel in this area, unless you count the dirt roads. (Down here those dirt roads are home to the multi-million dollar homes owned by the athletes you're coming to see.) Other than that, Flint is the closest place for any real trails.
Have a great trip and check the highway construction/closures before you go. I-75 is still the land of orange barrels and will be until mid-Dec. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the heads up about the construction, that sounds like pretty typical michigan just about anywhere
We are staying in Auburn Hills, a new holiday inn I think. The wife doesn't really want to bring the FJ down, mostly due to gas cost concerns, but I would definitely be up for a beverage. we were planning on doing some window shopping saturday, so I am sure there is plenty of time to find to run into each other. You just tell me where and when works for you.
And if I wasn't so worried about security, I might just try the ignorant card when I stumble upon the multi-million dollar back woods cabin of Calvin Johnson runnin down the two-tracks

Not sure how I missed this thread but, HECK YES I am up for what ever your meet and greet plans are... count me in. I live in the Holland area. I am not much of a skier but I can watch the vehicles while all are on the slopes.
I made my first official off-roading trip opening day at Silver Lake this year and it was a blast! I saw only 1 other FJ (Dune Guy?) there. We need to plan a trip up there again opening day. I have a place we can camp for free. I have family in the area and have been in the Dunes with my own vehicle since 1982.
