Ok, so this idea has been kicked around for a couple days on the Michigan Sight Thread. There has been some discussion about meeting up at the Silver Lake Dunes in April when they open, but we have lots of time to make that happen.
The real discussion here is that none of us have any patience, and we are proud of it. (why else would we just go over the mountain rather than try to figure out how to go around it? Other than its more fun?) So lets try to get something together during the holiday season.
As far as locations, we have had Houghton Lake, Gaylord, and possibly even the UP suggested. We are hoping for more insight as to where the trails are located in the area. (I am anyways... I am new, what can I say)
I have suggested that maybe sometime around New Years would be good timing, because I am guessing some of you will have some nice pretty new mods that you just unwrapped and are dying to get on your rigs. It would be nice to give each other a hand with all the work. (and newbs like me can watch and learn)
So lets hear your ideas!

I would say lets go some place and chat like go ski together or do something. The thing is am in mid michigan and the UP is a bit far. Other than that am really open to anything.

I am definitely down with Skiing. My wife and I have season passes to Treetops in Gaylord, but we like to get out to Boyne Mountain also. There are a few places south of here that would make the drive from Flint not so far. What resort might you have in mind? or were you referring to Nordic?
Just for the record, I am sure we are all already familiar, but the skiing is usually pretty sparse until after the new year, depending on how cold it stays. I know there is lots of white stuff on the ground up there now, but unless it stays cold enough, we won't be doing much skiing soon. Doesn't mean we can't ski, just means that the best time for it might be in January sometime.

I wont mind anytime. Im a bit busy in thanksgiving going to LA, and in Christmas am going back home to Kuwait and will be back in January and it will be a great opportunity to meet at that time.

Depending on the timing in January I am good to go. There will be some weeks that I am unavailable due to work, but I dont want to stop the gravy train all by myself. Lets see what some of the other peoples here have to say...
Votes on locations? Do you have a particular ski spot q80fj?

Well if you're looking for trails Grayling is a good place to start. Lots of hills to climb in Camp Grayling and you could spend all day driving and still not see a fraction of the trails in the area. Once the snow starts flying and there is a good base on the trails the sleds take over until spring so get your trail riding in before that.
There is also an annual event called sno-blind that usually makes a 4x4 mag if you're interested. http://www.mudchuggers.com/snowblindflyer.pdf
It's getting late to sign up but if you hurry you might still make it.

Re: Michigan Meet and Greet/Trail Ride
Mt. Holly or Brighton is great for us. Being close to Detroit makes the UP a little far for us, too.
Our weekends are nuts till about March, but we could probably make it up for dinner/drinks wherever you decide to try for some skiing. I'll agree that into mid-Jan is the best time to hit the slopes here.
