Re: Hannibal Rock New Years Day Run

Sweet fancy moses, that was a mess. Underneath about two inches of snow was frozen ground which made for an interesting trail ride. I didnt get 50 yards into the first "Easy" trail and had to take a strap. Not to mention getting sideways in ruts that took nearly an hour to get me away from a tree. After barely escaping body damage 4 or 5 times.... on the easy trails, I felt it was not the environment for a new FJC. Not to mention my wifes FJC.

Thanks suncruiser for showing us around. Id like to run that place when it is warmer and drier. It was a bit on the chilly side, too.

Re: Hannibal Rock New Years Day Run

Cadaver - I'm not sure what was worse, seeing the FJ jump for the tree in the ruts / tree roots - or knowing it was your wifes. My wife was warm and toasty in the car and never saw your predicament. Sorry you made the long trip for so little fun time. Think Carhartt and boots... I am.
Not 2 minutes after you got un-stuck that same tree you love got slammed into hard by someone trying to power through the mud and up those ruts.

Suncruiser - thanks for the help. I think I too will wait for a few dry weeks in a row before going up again even if I get new meat's. If that was all EASY trail you took us on my wallet can't afford the good stuff.

My stock tires were just to slick and trying to keep momentum to get up over tree tree roots angled toward the tree's and not hit the tree - to much with the ice that used to be snow. Nothing like stopping to avoid the tree and then sliding sideways another 2" closer AFTER I stop. To many tree's!

Today makes we wish I had a rig that was not so shiny and new. I saw jeep, a truck and a Jeep Wagoneer all both bounce off the trees I could not make it through about 2 minutes after I backed away.

Over all no damage and a good time even though it was 19 degrees and to short.

just to let you know your video made it on the hannibal rocks website. Rockport Off Road Park

That is cool, I still have some awesome footage of your jeep that I am going to post, Please be patient with me, I will get it up, ( I just need to buy a new computer )

ON the Flip side, I was glad that I did not go to this, Weather was crappy up here, I had time to hit some playtime in some new town home developments and the ground was just slick as could be! The trees of Hannibal would have worked there magic on my FJ Pannels. Much better to go back when it is dry!
